Exactly, I’m confused why people are feeling obligated to put more effort than they have interest for these projects. If Facebook did start using my project in production, then that would of course be their dumb decision that they would be responsible to fix!

> 4. Donate the rest wholesale to charity. Tax deduction should be around $25k - likely more financial benefit than selling piece by piece, with infinitely less hassle.

What charity wants these antiques? Less hassle for you, I'm sure, but now a charity is going to have to deal with the stuff. Will they just throw it in the trash?

They are clueless kids at their first job, following the orders of their hero. You think they’ll resist when the boss tells them, “cut everything”?

And how many of those wounded are totally unconnected bystanders, who just happened to be standing next to the individual in the grocery store or wherever?

It's a peeve of mine when people talk about the "CCP" like this, almost universally in a negative context--like they're trying to invoke the specter of communism in a scary way. Maybe you didn't mean it that way? Why say "CCP" rather than just "China"?

Every time they release actual footage (like the gofast/tictac videos from a few years ago), it is not very convincing, with plausible explanations (parallax, etc) for what we are seeing. We are often told that the good videos are still classified. Why is it that only the bad videos are the ones that are released? The shtick is wearing thin.

> All arguments of the form "where is the evidence" are moot at this point, as there is a mountain of evidence

Sorry, I haven’t seen a single decent photo or video—everything is always blurry, distant, or ambiguous. And this is after a decade where virtually everyone is constantly carrying a camera on their person.

So these incredibly advanced beings also keep accidentally crash landing their spaceships once they get to earth?

A laptop consumes energy at the same order of magnitude as a human body—not an “obscene” amount. The physics of accelerating an organism to the relativistic speeds required to make space travel feasible are in a completely different realm.

> maybe I can make that flashlight app

I wonder if you could make a literal flashlight/headlamp, either by using the front-facing display as a light, or just leveraging the infrared/lidar sensor to make night-vision goggles

The tech on this thing is so cool and so useless! People will buy them, try them out, and then a month later realize they didn't actually use it at all and return them to the store.
