All these social media sites banning The Donald mere days before the end of his presidency just means that they've decided to shut off that particular cashflow tap 0.8% early, pretending that they didn't profit from his crazy presidency for 99.2% of its duration. Instead, they reap some "Internet nerd revenge points", which is more valuable to their brand image right now than what little trickle of profit they could extract from the increasingly rabid Trump followers.

It's self-serving and calculated in the worst possible way.

US senator from Illinois called out reddit specifically. That's the reason, I think. Reddit won't do anything unless they get get called out by media or government.
