Hey! This is Denis, the CEO of neural.love. Thanks for all the great feedback on our portrait generator (still in beta). I wanted to clarify a few points that were raised previously:
1) processing time - we’re currently experiencing heavy demand so it make take longer than the usual 5-20 minutes to generate your portrait, but it should arrive in less than 5 hours (let us know at [email protected] if it doesn’t)
2) data - any data you upload will be deleted within 48 hours (usually within 24) per our privacy policy, which you can read here: https://neural.love/terms
3) email registration - per GDPR rules, we have to ask permission before we can send you anything, hence the registration portal.
Based on your previous feedback, we’re constantly trying to improve our tranparency and communication along with our product, so thanks again for all you feedback, and please feel free to contact us directly at [email protected] or send me a DM at [email protected]

Doesn't ask for an account to upload a picture, but as soon as it's done uploading you MUST create an account or you won't even see the final result.
I really have a problem with this, as it even uploads the photo first and only THEN asks you to sign up.
That means you can't even delete the photo without giving them more data. It's just "safe and secure in the Amazon cloud" forever.

All unprocessed files we removing automatically, they are stored securely,
no need to worry. We will think about how to make the registration form better, thank you for your feedback
Exactly why I feed sites like this a generic stock photo. I want to play with the toy, but you aren't getting my data.
Hello, my name is Denis, and I'm CEO of neural.love: thank you for your feedback, the account needed to deliver you a result, generation could take around 5-20 minutes. If you will close the registration popup your uploaded file will be deleted automatically.
However you are correct, it is not as transparent now that we would like to ask user to register - we are in beta currently, and your feedback is important for us, we will think how to improve the registration form in terms of transparency.

Denis, first of all: really cool product!
It’s also fair to ask for registration in order to prevent abuse / record consent for terms and privacy.
However, it would be best if you asked that before uploading the photo. Many people seem frustrated that their data was processed and now they must create an account to see the result/delete the data.
Once again, it looks great, it’s just an expectation/transparency issue :)
Edit: If it’s ok for you to disclose this, what kind of infra are you running on? Just curious.

We will change the way registration works on Portrait HD today, thank you again for your feedback :) It will ask to register before the upload itself
We are on Amazon architecture right now with 15+ servers, 5-20 minutes only because there is a 600 tasks in the processing line and it's quite long, we have launched it today
Thanks again for warm feedback :)

I just uploaded something but I won't create an account. How long until my data is deleted?
48 hours (24 hours is the least we could get with AWS S3, but files could be available several hours after expiration time per their documentation, so we wrote 48 hours to be sure). You can also check other removal times here https://neural.love/terms
yes I will not use your tool if I need to register just to test it once.
Yes they got me as well. Why would I create an account for this?
This is a typical dark pattern, that's why you never give these random websites any valuable data.
Great, another app to steal people's photos.
The examples certainly look cool!
I was curious to try it until you asked for an account, which I'm not motivated to do just to try this kind of toy service, sorry.
I have a separate browser instance with a trash google account for these cases.

Doesn't seem to work on Firefox, nice idea however. Not sure I'll create an account for this though
"Created 34 minutes ago
Waiting in a queue… You will get an email upon portrait generation."
Not sure if this is legit or just a way to collect data. I find it odd that it has been 34 minutes and my image is still in queue.

I'm getting a "There's no ETag" error. On Windows Firefox.
Sure enough, it asked me to create an account which is understandable, I don't complain. I have a multitude of Google accounts and I used one of them.
I waited for around 10-15 minutes and I used a photo of a statue of Caesar. The results were very, very impressive. https://imgur.com/WOeOYR3
Awesome job OP. There must be some amazing tech at work!
