Pretty sure engineering have the last two weeks of the year off anyways, so it shouldn't be hard to accomplish this walkout.

> It's time to think equitable at Apple - together.
Could someone help me understand what this sentence means?

I think they are saying that there are two Apples, one is doing administrative, engineering and marketing while the other is doing retail sales, cafeteria work, or manual labor. The latter doesn't get the same benefits as the former. The equitable thing is about making policy for time off and other benefits universal for all parts of the business. I think it's a fine idea.
Would be cool if they also thought about the manufacturing side of the house who as I seem to recall had to install “suicide nets” on site because conditions were so poor that staff were killing themselves in such large numbers.
That was Foxconn, a contract manufacturer.
Being one stepped removed from the suicide nets really changes nothing about what I said. Still entirely within their control and responsibility.
Kind of more and less than one step. Apple (and other companies that used Foxconn) did investigate their relationships with Foxconn after the suicides at their facilities and that's why Foxconn increased pay and installed the netting.
Reading through a bunch of the not particularly useful website, it seems to be protesting workplace discrimination and bias.
It's perfectly reasonable to protest such, but the website is doing an appalling job of communicating it.

The site seems more geared to workers who are interested in participating rather than a FAQ.
The flyer tweet seems to have the main jist:
* We deserve a respectful workplace.
* We deserve paid sick time.
* We deserve protection on the frontlines.
* We deserve proper mental healthcare.

A walk out, and the timing, implies retail employees but the issues faced by retail employees aren't the same as generally gets covered by the apple #metoo stuff, which is generally corporate: Engineering, Design, HR/Management, Marketing, etc.
I'm not saying that I don't believe there are issues that need to be addressed, I'm saying that their website isn't doing a good job of saying what issues they are actually protesting.
They have a specific coverage on compensation and wage transparency, which I'm not sure (again I could be wrong) is a huge issue in retail, as retail wages are much less varied.
