Big mistake to take learning cursive out of the curriculum. It's a skill right up there with typing that is easy to learn and gives a sense of accomplishment. Just the habit of doing the lessons is good way to acquire the habit of discipline.
I mean so is whittling or knot tying or singing or using an abacus or small engine repair or compass-and-map navigation or or or. Why this one?
My point is that it is very useful within just a few short lessons and practice. An ideal activity for children to learn and get the satisfaction of making progress. Those other things are good too, just not as useful.
Cursive is also good for quick note-taking. Things you write down are more readily saved in memory than on the computer.

Actually, all those should be taught. It’s a good list. You should be a school administrator.
You're right. Let's just do everything on the computer.
No I'm pointing out that elevating this specific skill for weird intellectual/moral reasons is a mistake. There's value in learning it, but most of that value isn't unique to this particular skill.
