He also noted recently that a lot of tech companies have been extending depreciation times from say 3 years 5 years ago to 6 years today, to inflate earnings, without any convincing explanation for why.
I think a lot of disk/compute has legitimately lasted longer than they initially thought it would. The initial estimates are too conservative

The dilution only happens if the stock value skyrockets so this article makes no sense. If you told me you were going to make me a millionaire but in exchange I would have to give you $100k, I would not complain.
