This argument gets brought up all the time. The US heavily subsidizes (directly, indirectly, and through tariffs) its local auto manufacturers.
This is the same scare as when the German cars came, and the Japanese, and the Korean.

A fraction of what its cost is for subsidizing other countries.
The only think I wonder about is safety.
A lot of foreign cars can't be imported because of crashworthiness and other safety problems.
Would these vehicles be safe in an accident?
(I wonder about some cars we already import like smart for two or fiat 500)

until you get slapped with tariffs at the border, then it's 2-3.
I’ll be interested to see how the quality of these compares over time with Tesla etc…
