I'd guess they'll just shove another vibe coded app into there. MS is basically addicted to churn because they no longer sell anything to own. Its all rent; no one rents office for publisher.

I'm willing to bet that code would be an embarrassment to Microsoft and useless to anyone else.
The incentive to continue getting MS Office continues to shrink. First Outlook Classic being slowly replaced, now Publisher.

I feel like I have mourned the death of MSPub at least once before.
I'm not saying Microsoft Publisher is necessarily good, but at work I run into a layout problem that Word won't handle, and there's nothing else available to me there.
Crazy.
