This kernel is actually pretty new! This is a good sign for us, since embedded devices have a habit of running reasonably old kernels with limited features. The downside is that there is generally very limited support for ONIE devices running arm, and after a large amount of searching, there are no compatible ONIE images for this device at all, other than the already installed Dell OS.

The tetraquark now presents theorists with a solid target against which to test their mathematical machinery for approximating the strong force. Honing their approximations represents physicists’ main hope for understanding how quarks behave inside and outside atoms — and for teasing apart the effects of quarks from subtle signs of new fundamental particles that physicists are pursuing.

The vulnerably allows any user-installed app to determine whether any app is installed on the device given its bundle ID.

XPC endpoint com.apple.nehelper has a method accessible to any app that accepts a bundle ID as a parameter and returns an array containing some cache UUIDs if the app with matching bundle ID is installed on the device or an empty array otherwise.

Using Task.Result or Task.Wait to block wait on an asynchronous operation to complete is MUCH worse than calling a truly synchronous API to block. This phenomenon is dubbed "Sync over async". Here is what happens at a very high level:

An asynchronous operation is kicked off. The calling thread is blocked waiting for that operation to complete. When the asynchronous operation completes, it unblocks the code waiting on that operation. This takes place on another thread. The result is that we need to use 2 threads instead of 1 to complete synchronous operations. This usually leads to thread-pool starvation and results in service outages.

The purpose of this article is to present a simple way of looking at what Git really is and what it really does. I do not claim that this way of looking at Git represents absolute “facts” in any hard and fast or literal sense. But I contend that if you conceive of Git in the way that I’m going to suggest, if you substitute these conceptions of Git for any misconceptions you might have now, you’ll be a much happier and more fluid Git user. When posed with a puzzle as to what happened, what will happen, what you should do in order to make a certain thing happen, the answer might suddenly be obvious, where previously it wasn’t.

The dual bus design makes sense as NEC did the same for the V-series. Coupled with the right microcode, it can greatly enhance the speed of the FPU. So why then is the bus expanded to 74-bits for the mantissa? In the 80187 and 80387 this bus is still only 68-bits. We look to the design of NECs follow on FPU for the answer. The upd72291 (and its 32-bit bus 72691 version) are rather different beasts, made for the the V33/V53 x86 CPUs and V60/V70/V80 non x86-CPUs. We’ll talk about them in more detail later, but they share the same 74-bit mantissa as the 72191, and in this case, the designers wrote a paper on its design.

The specific types of day-old poultry named in 526.31 are mailable subject to the following requirements:

Poultry that is not more than 24 hours old and is presented for mailing in the original, unopened hatchery box from the hatchery of origin. The date and hour of hatching is noted on the box by a representative of the hatchery who has personal knowledge thereof. (For Collect on Delivery (COD) shipments made by a hatchery for the account of others, the name or initials and address of the hatchery or the Post Office box number and address of the hatchery must be prominently shown for this standard.) Box is properly ventilated, of proper construction and strength to bear safe transport in the mail, and is not stacked more than 10 units high. Day–old poultry is mailed early enough in the week to avoid receipt at the office of address (in case of missed connections) on a Sunday, a national holiday, or the afternoon before a Sunday or national holiday. Day–old poultry can be delivered to the addressee within 72 hours of the time of hatching. Day-old poultry sent via surface transportation, must include special handling service fees, in addition to regular postage. Day-old poultry sent via air transportation must meet all provisions of the airlines. Delivery of the mailpiece is dependent on the availability of air carriers having available equipment to safely deliver the day–old poultry within the specified time limit. Day–old poultry that is first shipped via a commercial air express or air cargo service and then presented for mailing to a final destination must be in good condition and properly packaged as specified in 526.32a-e. Boxes of day–old poultry of about identical size, securely fastened together to prevent separation in transit, may be accepted for mailing as a single parcel, provided the total length and girth combined does not exceed Postal Service limits.

The robot did pump its arm, but it also stumbled a bit on this simple move. It was just the slightest stutter step, something most people watching the video would never notice. But the Atlas team notices every detail and they want to get it right.

“We hadn’t run that behavior after the backflip before today, so that was really an experiment,” says Scott Kuindersma, the Atlas team lead at Boston Dynamics. “If you watch the video closely, it looks a little awkward. We’re going to swap in a behavior we’ve tested before so we have some confidence it will work.”

Now imagine a sales process in which the sales team is simply notified of each new sales lead along with pertinent details, letting them decide whether or not to follow up with the lead. If the Salesforce notification step fails, it’s easy to come up with a hundred other ways of getting that information to the sales team: Reports, Slack notifications, list exports, manual observation, or using Zapier to send an alert through virtually any medium. The downtime would last a few minutes, at most.

The first interview I had was a general developer job in a small company in Stockport – the job required Microsoft Access experience, and for some reason this was still something I considered myself to have, and was willing to promise to others I had, which baffles me now. I ended up having a really great chat with the company boss at the interview. He asked some great interview questions about data analysis, and we spent about 90 minutes in conversation – he was fascinated by what I’d studied at uni – particularly data visualisation and dynamical systems & chaos. I did get offered the job but he was too late – I’d already had my second interview and they asked me to start immediately.

I am in a situation where I don’t need to apply to new positions and choose my employer often, but I keep my eye on job ads frequently. I sympathize with developers who are capable of building solid websites but struggle to find a job because of the lack of React skills. I know at least one person who would be thankful if React skill wouldn’t be listed so often — a friend of mine (and my mentee) with whom I share the office these days.

Trial and error is bad and costly for companies who are hiring, so they often compensate by making the recruitment process more and more forensic. This means conducting multiple interviews to gather valuable information to help them more clearly determine which candidate has the most potential. In the best-case scenario, this is a great investment for all involved: it ensures that the candidate won’t struggle in the job, and that the company won’t have to repeat the process all over again.

There is a long-running debate over whether it is ethical for printers to be attaching this information to documents without users knowing. In fact, there has even been a suggestion that it is a violation of human rights and one MIT project has tracked more than 45,000 complaints to printer companies about the technology.

You can code in any programming language you'd like to create your project, so long as the language is part of the Debian/Ubuntu or Arch package repo (or one of the language-specific repos, like Rust's cargo). Please limit build steps of the project to three or less steps.

“I call for the need for more research on the dark, down-, and destructive side of entrepreneurship—what are their dimensions, why do they generate suffering, and how we can reduce them and speed recovery? Such a stream of research holds the potential to make an important, compassionate contribution,” Shepherd wrote. “I started my scholarly journey into the dark side of entrepreneurship after my father’s business failure caused him to suffer greatly. I was interested in understanding this darkness to help people like my father anticipate negative outcomes of entrepreneurship and reduce their suffering.”

If you have fun fooling around with electronics - as I do - you probably play a lot with microcontrollers. One of the first things you learn, is that these tiny beasts (from the ATtiny all the way to the ESP32) will suffer from brown-outs if you try to drive too much current from them.

At Maggie Daley Park, one of the project’s defining challenges was to find a material that could sit above an underground parking garage, which could only support a limited weight. In addition, the park’s design brief called for “a complex landscape that offers experiential range” with varied character, scale, and seasonal attributes. To build any kind of varied topography and support the planned winter “ice ribbon” and play spaces, it was necessary to use a fill material that was lighter than soil. Geofoam, at approximately 1/100 the density of dirt, was the obvious solution.
