Blah spinoffs me arse! I'm still waiting to see the spinoffs that were guaranteed when the LHC was built. Europe needs to move on from these colliders unless some new technologies bring down the cost.
This is madness. I heard all the "Loads of tech spinoffs" argument while the LHC was being built and have yet to see or hear of anything. This cash would be far better spent getting a manned EU space program up and running. The EU is badly in need of something that everybody can get behind and see as a united vision for the future, not some machine that only an elite few can enjoy. Some other nation(s) should build the next colider.
