It takes people's time to build runways. That's time they won't be building other valuable things.

You're ignoring the core truth of the comment you're replying to: Scarcity exists. There is no way to have it all; there are only compromises. Simply walking is dangerous because you could fall. We could all go back to being infants* crawling on the floor if we wanted to be safer. But we won't. Making more compromises in the name of safety has to be justified. Planes will never be perfectly safe. That is okay.

People tend to complain about the safety of airplane even though it is in the top echelon of safe modes of transit. There's no reason to try to reach the highest-hanging fruit trying to make it even safer when people are dying in droves on the road just getting to the airport. Much better to do something about that low-hanging fruit.

I wonder if in predominantly black countries, darkening the skin tones of white applicants would be considered beautifying.

It's not clear. But the lawyers at these exchanges aren't going to take that risk and will strongly advise against receiving stolen property.

But I imagine the reason exchanges are refusing these transactions is at least half because they would be receiving stolen property. I'm not sure but I don't imagine "I'm receiving property stolen from another country" will stand up as a defense in any court.

Crimes are proportional in terms of punishment. It's called aggravating and mitigating factors.

Personally I don't know too much about this case. But courts can find corporations liable, even if they did a terrible job. It's the same logic as putting the getaway driver in jail for attempted robbery, even if they dropped the clutch and stalled the car. McKinsey could have done a terrible job but also been liable according to courts (who probably just assume white-shoe consultants did a good job anyway).

I'm sure the people undergoing therapy there appreciate your grit to complete the project :)

Step 0: Donate to both parties to gain favor with the implicit threat it will be removed if favorable legislation is not passed.
