Ryanair has a pretty high safety record, they fly modern, well maintained planes because their margins are lower and they make them up in volume.

Buses can carry 100 people at a time so have a far larger social utility. Besides, most are going electric.

But that's just what OP is saying, you can 'refuse' to be limited to nature, but nature will have other plans for you.

Most 90 year old lonely people would probably benefit more from an actual human carer than some clanker that can't do stairs, any kind of mobility assistance and can't even make them a cup of tea.

Having renewables distributed however is the big challenge. We've gone from a world where you have a small amount of large generators in static places to having many generators everywhere. If you don't have the capacity to transfer that energy to where it's being used it doesn't matter how cheap it is.

No. 2 is enough though surely, I've had multiple incidences now where a series we've been watching on a streaming platform has disappeared without warning, running my own little media server alleviates that entirely.

Digital radio was always going to be crap, it doesn't degrade gradually as signal gets worse They should have just put all the money into a better 4G network and ran radio through that.

I don't think you've got an expectation of privacy when it comes to what you're eating in a restaurant. You could just walk over to their table.

Probably worth noting that Polestar 2s are not particularly efficient, though lovely to drive. Mine averages about 3.2mi/kWh for most trips, though there are lots of EVs out there getting 4+ miles/kWh.

I mean it's all prosumer grade stuff. I get hassled at work to sell their network gear over Cisco and Aruba because of the price but it's a flashy and cheap.

Proper Microsoft authenticator setup is more secure than OTP because it's pushed based and doesn't allow users to copy paste their OTP codes into phishing sites. Google also prefer push based MFA for this reason.

Even before the move to Gemini they've been on a downward spiral, 'skills' Google home used to have now don't work and it feels like they've been actively making it worse. I've not switched to Gemini yet but now I'm not too hopeful.

Social media sites today are nothing like the forums and guestbooks of the 90s. Social media now is highly effective at developing addiction like symptoms as well as driving people to decisive topics and conspiracy theories. It has a measurable effect on teenagers wellbeing and academic performance too.

My bigger concern is the how rather than the why on this topic.

Perhaps on that one axis. On the other hand Switzerland is probably about as far opposed as the USSR as you can get.

There's been a lot of study into this already and the forming consensus is that fast DC charging is less of an issue on battery longevity than was first thought. In cars with decent thermal management systems it seems to have a fairly limited effect on battery lifetime as opposed to natural calendar aging.

China has the largest intelligence programme in the world and likely has whole teams of people whose job it is to build this type of data. It's not surprising that they are cagey about it being hoovered up by other countries.

Ultimately though it's those people's bosses who set the direction and from my experience those people are telling you to your face that you'll be replaced by AI as soon as they're able to do so while they continuously fail to see it's shortcomings.

This would not be a net benefit to society.
