It's not more solid, it's just had 80 years of corrections.

While I have no doubt these complaints are real this feels like it's trying to gin up evidence for a position more than anything

And all those consoles (save the Switch maybe) are heavily subsidized by those companies to compete at that artificial price point.

According to LTT Valve made the conscious decision NOT to subsidize the Steam Machine to let the market compete. I very much respect that and will be willing to pay the premium because of that and:

- using my purchase to vote for/encourage the growth of the Linux ecosystem.

- as a PC gamer I'm already highly invested in the Steam platform with all of my other gaming purchases.

Be interested to know if this is related to the same process/technology that Midjourney announced last week[0]

one core tenant of Christianity is that Christ the Messiah obviates prophecy. No denomination of Christianity (AFAIK) considers the LDS as true Christians...except for the LDS themselves

The comment you are replying to is correct. The Soviet Union had massive amounts of resources and capital (both human and economic) to be able to develop and support technical innovations. The wider-Soviet bloc itself was of such a scale as to be able to completely support their own divergent technologies and innovations. The higher education systems themselves were sufficient to provide and foster the talent, even if they were overly-politicized.

Of issue, especially as time went on, was the overly-centralized nature of national resource and economic strategy and planning. Especially ESPECIALLY constraining was the dual-circuit monetary system of its economy, which literally prevented half of its "capital" to follow innovation or market forces outside of centralized allocation.

I highly recommend the book Collapse: The Fall of the Soviet Union by Vladislav Zubok

"I did the same thing; whoever designed these doors was a sadist." -

"Do you like that bag? I've been meaning to get a new one, I'm so tired of this one." -

"Now see, if we were as good looking/rich/smart as him we could have figured that out." -

"Is that thing broken again? I'm telling you, we're in the wrong business man." -

"Nothing to do with talent, it's a money and equipment problem, we're awesome at this." -

I've used each one of these in the past week with complete strangers, in neutral-to-unfamiliar surroundings, in passing, and the most hostile reaction I've gotten is "hahaha, I know right?" :)

> Despite working at a terrible school

Literally zero need for that; none. And it's that kind of language that calls into question the authors motives. I went from "Excellent reporting here" to "This guy is emotional and not a reliable source of information" in 6 words.

That too makes sense.

Apparently it was video clips originally posted, but it seems like posting unpublished(?) copy of any type can fall under DMCA, which I guess makes sense.

-> [HBO Lawyer] classifies the infringing content as 'summaries of unpublished, character, setting, and plots of a forthcoming series'

100% that's actually what we found missing/were disappointed in from the Taliesin West "self-guided" audio tour was it was more social/artistic approach of his architectural style, and not at all on the actual architecture and it's effects.

-> which [is?] pretty bland

That's a shame to hear, as Taliesin West in Arizona is very fascinating and interesting, but rather poorly curated and run.

For what it's worth I found Oslo Airport to be one of the best airport experiences I've ever had. 5 stars.

Just select one of the 5 successor states to Yugoslavia, forward all traffic to their ministry of foreign affairs, and then enjoy the heartfelt exchange of brotherly love and munitions that ensues!

> $800k doesn't sound like that much of money for someone that has access to that kind of insider knowledge

I think you over-estimate by a large margin how much congressional staffers and/or Pentagon employees make, many of whom could have access to this kind of information in the course of their duties.

While it has many many amazing scenes, I think Patriot's "cover" of the Rockwell Retro Encabulator is absolutely top notch.

Yes, I believe a person on a hacker forum who has said, through their own evaluations, that they have observed LLM driven agents exhibiting illegal behavior, such as when they have asked an agent to complete certain tasks with what sounds like abstracted levels of context. I believe them because I know I can get an agent to do that myself by simply installing OpenClaw and telling it to apply for as many mortgage loans as possible at the best rate possible.
