I wonder if it would it allow for quieter data centers too.

It'd be simpler to just have a high LVT and treat it as a credit instead of deductible.

There's no clawback for sandbagging the future, no reward for present impact of past work. The people who flock to these projects are there to score a quick promo/raise and move on to the next new thing.

You effectively cut their pay by 30-70% over 4 years but not giving refreshes.

That's "durable savings" for ya.

Because shuttering the business would be an existential threat while Google routinely shutters what would otherwise be successful business like domains/inbox/travel/reader/cloud print/code/podcasts, or otherwise refuses to treat with the level of seriousness/vision required to long term success like stadia/Chrome OS/Nest/plus/news etc.

But that's what equity driven comp is supposed to resolve - give them small refreshers until they leave.

Yeah but the vast majority of people don't actually use home dir directly and the people who do also know enough to enable it in finder options, search for it using help or the help search soertcut, bookmark or search for it using spotlight.

Spotlight (cmd space) also means you pretty much never have to navigate to a file/folder.

Fyi home is cmd + shift + h which you can find in the go menu or by search for home in the help menu.

That doesn't make sense though. You don't need to render/composite what isn't visible.

Scalability? Data center algorithm! Security? The fuzzing algorithm! Healthcare? The medical algorithm! Mobile? The Android algorithm! Gaming? The Stadia algorithm!

No that's utterly absurd. What Google builds are platforms, markets and generally scalable systems. They involve algorithms and algorithms may more often than not be their competitive edge but an algorithm does not a system make.

ther perf gains you're seeing are from architectural and software advancements not pure silicon

you cite nvidia as an example against it but nvidia itself clearly does is not of the same opinion

Moore's law has been dead for about a decade bro.

3 years is a long time but IMO not enough to being a 100+ watt SoC down to ~20-30 required for that form factor.

That being said, Nvidia is still much more energy efficient graphics wise vs AMD so I could see it getting fairly close - maybe 70-80%. CPU wise though I doubt they'll be as close just because of power.
