Americans pretty much only care about themselves. It's evident if you watch the way they drive and road rage. The insanity, super fat people in cars driving 1/2 a mile to McDonalds, screaming at everybody along the way who happens to "get in their way", never understanding that "they aren't stuck in travel, they are travel".

Israel in trying to prevent history from repeating itself, is repeating this history onto others.

The JDF murdered a friend of mine 20 years ago for the crime of protesting. They didn't even give her the dignity of a bullet or a bomb. They just ran her over with a bulldozer then later spit on her body.

We couldn't give her an open casket funeral and Israel charged her family $20k for processing her "crimes" and shipping her body back to the USA.

This is how Israel functions now, it doesn't matter if you're a terrorist or not, they will kill anybody who defies them.

In a somewhat related arena, Dries Buytaert from Drupal has some great arguments on how being able to contribute to open source is a privilege, and you could extrapolate that it is sort of discrimination to turn down job applicants who haven't contributed to major projects.

Duh. All you have to do is fly from New York to Copenhagen and back to understand how angry and stressed we are, as well as what kind of life would be possible if our nation put caring about everybody's quality of life above power and greed.

I travel a lot, and outside of the United States, countries have import taxes, especially on luxury goods. In some countries and iPhone Xs will cost $800 more than in the USA.

I have to visit the USA about 8 times per year, so every time I do I buy 10 phones in a state with no sales tax (usually Oregon) and make about $5k in profit selling locally (which does eat up a ton of time, but not $5k worth).
