I've started the same, but instead of the gym I go to random meetup events. Which feels easier since most of them are exactly for talking to strangers. Also went bars sometimes with people from the group. I have to get more confident about exchanging contact information though, only did that twice.

User Were there people in opposition of automatization and industrialization? And if so, what were their reasons?

talkie-1930 Yes, there were people who objected to the introduction of machinery, on the ground that it would deprive the working classes of employment. It was argued that, as the new methods of production must necessarily lower the cost of articles, and so increase consumption, more would be produced than the country could take, and that a surplus of manufactured goods would be left on hand, which would oblige the manufacturers to discharge a portion of their hands. The opponents of machinery also predicted, that the operative classes would be reduced to starvation, in consequence of the cheapness of articles of food, which would enable foreigners to undersell the home producer in the home market. They contended, further, that the mental cultivation of the artizan must suffer from his constant application to a purely mechanical process; and, finally, they maintained, that the proposed system must have a demoralizing effect, as it would remove all inducements to personal exertion, and substitute a state of things, in which the industrious and the idle would fare alike.

The last time I tried to make AI built a drag and drop UI, it failed miserably. Things wouldn't line up or even didn't work at all. Any tips for that?

In the morning I listen to chill electronic music without lyrics: Tycho, Emancipator, Blackmill, Jon Hopkins

Later in the day I listen to more energetic electronic music (a lot of which is from the Hotline Miami soundtrack): M|O|O|N, Dan Terminus, Carpenter Brut, Daniel Deluxe, 1788-L, Pendulum

In Motion is my favorite productivity track as well. Most of the time I just listen to the whole The Social Network soundtrack

So that is where Silicon Valley got the "Consider the X" running gag from.

"Also, we’ve learned more about the bad effects of lighter-than-Earthly gravity on human bodies,"

How can he confidently use that argument when we don't have any data between 0g and 1g, other than 12 Apollo astronauts, that spend less than 3 days on the moon?

It might very well be that the 0.38g on Mars are sufficient to make many problems go away. The two simple facts of your blood being pulled downward and moving your body around taking effort could already fix a lot of the medical issues astronauts face in 0g.

Of course that is true, every Mars enthusiast will agree. Not a single person is saying to leave Earth behind to rot. Agree with Mars proponents or not, but at least don't argue against strawmen. Their actual argument treats Mars as a backup strategy for humanity and a science outpost

I had exactly the same question. In the linked tweet the CEO claims it's not an animation. But in the article they imply certain animations are played when a specific signal is detected.

I think a full simulation without these precreated animations would be more convincing that they actually fully simulated a fly's behavior. It's very easy to make it look like real behavior using animations, videogames do exactly that.

I found some nice books in German paper recycling containers. Including a nice old etymology dictionary that I treasured

Almost the same game but in C++ was an assignment in my Software Development class. The last challenge had multiple elevators that each would only service specific floors. You were intended to do some kind of pathfinding to get all passengers to their destination in time. But I just tried multiple heuristics until one passed the hidden test set.

Very impressive stuff!

Can you prompt it or is it strictly Copilot-style prediction?
