Also thought I could get away from myself by getting away, and at times it helped a bit, but also often didn't. Sounds like you're on the path to feeling better. Less ego for the win.
Author here. So sorry to hear about your depression and medication trials (ugh, the side effects..), though I'm heartened by the sentiment that you "inevitably DO get out of it. Fortunately these things are usually temporary, however long that temporary might be.
I hadn't consider that my own moving around in my early twenties was a way to try and 'break out' of the cycle until you posted this.
Wishing you and your family the best in the new year!
One of the most helpful, semi-passive things I did for learning Spanish was changing the language on my phone (once I got to a certain level). It makes all daily phone time at least a superficial way of getting in contact with the language.
Yes there was plenty of difficulty navigating the phone at first, but I was surprised at how much muscle memory took over. And it helped me develop my very cheesy joke / deflection to buy time to formulate my response: está cargando (it’s loading).
Not a direct answer to your question, but I recently upgraded from a 2019 Intel MacBook Pro to an M1 MacBook Pro which I got a good deal on - 2k for a 16 inch w the max chip, 64gb ram, and a 1tb hdd.
I looked at the new air, drooled over it really, but when I found this deal I couldn’t justify spending about the same to get a fraction of the power.
When I bought the last intel mbp, i actually initially bought an m1, but at the time it was too tough to set things up. This was mid 2021. This time around it was a lot easier, though my stack might be a tad simpler these days.
Only 2 weeks in but I’m really loving this thing so far. Might be worth checking for some deals on m1 models if you can find them, I think there are still some new models circulating, though from what I saw of the airs it was mostly 8gb ram.
This is terrific. I loved the presentation of trying different approaches successively, and I think you nail the nuance of several early product stages that often get rolled together.
Vercel Status is showing issues with" function executions that are causing an infinite loading issue for a portion of our customers"... but I'm having issues with builds never getting started, remaining queued indefinitely. Anyone else? Think I saw some CF issues earlier today as well.
Nifty! Look forward to checking this out. What kind of hardware do you roughly need to run this, though I’m guessing there’s a range depending on what you’re doing?
