In that case I think Reticulum would be the better use case as it's encrypted from the start.

https://reticulum.network/manual/whatis.html

Reticulum is an open-source, cryptography-based networking stack designed to build secure, resilient, and decentralized low-bandwidth wide-area networks using readily available hardware. It operates efficiently over various mediums like LoRa, WiFi, Ethernet, and serial connections, enabling autonomous communication that cannot be easily censored, surveilled, or controlled

While you're correct, my freakout lies in the fact that microplastics have been found to bypass the blood brain barrier...

Somewhat related (submarine war movie), is Crimson Tide with Denzel Washington and Gene Hackman.

I can't vouch for the military accuracy, but can say that the drama and intensity is one of best i've seen.

I take your point, but in fact there are multiple ways one can contract HIV that does not include engaging in intimate and amorous endeavors.

While copulation is the #1 form of transmission, others include:

- Sharing needles - Blood transfusion and organ transplants - Occupational exposure (healthcare workers)

Read the short story just a few weeks ago. It's still one of my favorite. So beautiful, so haunting.

Kinda weird about atlas obscura articles every since it was discovered several articles have been faked.

Granted all those articles were from one author, but I still remain a bit skeptical.

Interesting, this is the organization I was referring to: https://wrightfoundation.org/

But I wonder if the two are related?

I wish this article covered the more nefarious side of these organizations and "Coaches". Broken families, ruined relationships etc...

Here's the quick and dirty of my brother.

Full disclosure, I have not attended any Wright Foundation courses Myself.

My brother did however, and we are now sadly estranged. Since he joined Wright Foundation he has:

- Estranged himself from our whole family

- Got into serious debt - These courses aren’t cheap. There‘s a reason prices aren’t listed

- Forced a sale of our family business, of which he was an equity partner

Wright Foundation operates like the Landmark Forum and NXIVM. Ropes you in, and breaks you down (question your beliefs and worldview in a group setting), and sells you courses to build you back up again. All the while estranging yourself from those closest to you.

Don’t believe me? Check out the Salon and New York Times articles below.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/15/us/politics/betsy-devos-c...

While it’s hidden now, the Wright Foundation owns

www.wrightinstitutecult.com

How do I know? If you search that url on waybackmachine.com and go back a few years, you’ll see it’s their own site they created dedicated to prove how NOT a cult it is

I have read three of his books so far - Snow crash, Cryptonomincon, and Seveneves.

By far his most fully formed and epic book for me has been Seveneves. It is hardcore Sci-Fi at an epic scale both in world building and time.

I got 700 pages in when I had to return it to the library or be sent to collections.

FWIW I've had a lot of success with this neat little device: https://getbrick.app/

$40 and no subscription. No affiliation with the founders (who I believe have bootstrapped their business).

Mostly in their management philosophy.

My dad typically believes in working smarter not harder and my FIL will do basically anything he can to save a dollar including doing most things himself.

What muddies the water a bit is their respective behavior might be a function of the businesses they run.

Our business is a software consulting practice with healthy margins and my FIL has a physical location with high fixed costs (owns a Tennis club).

After working at various start-ups and Fortune 200 companies as a Product Manager, I am now working at my families niche consulting company.

The twist is my wife is also helping run her family business and while the two companies bring in similar revenue every year, that's about all they have in common.

It's been pretty eye opening seeing how my father and my FIL operate their respective businesses.

I feel like most watch folks have at least 1 Seiko in their watch case at least once in their collecting journey. Fantastic watches, enjoy!

I dont have data to support this, but I can't help but feel that increasingly America has a habit of "pendulum" swinging around societal issues. That is, we severely overcorrect (often time a little too late) that also has the nasty effect of leading to unintended casualties.

On equality, I find it highly disturbing the current policies have amounted to a zero sum game.

Since my little island is hardly if ever mentioned in these parts I thought i'd throw out a few interesting tidbits.

1. It has three bioluminescent bays : https://www.discoverpuertorico.com/article/guide-to-explorin....

2. It has one of the top 10 beaches in the world: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flamenco_Beach

3. I can't find the stat now, but I think Puerto Rico produces a ton of engineers relative to it's population. Also has pretty good representation at NASA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Puerto_Ricans_in_the_U...

DM if you want recco's on the island! I'm from Aguada so can help on the west coast :-)

My family is from there (I was born there) and my parents just installed a solar roof and panels, I can't remember the metrics (sorry) but the house was consuming .5 of the energy and exporting over 3 to the grid.

My parents have batteries as well for the solar power. Sorry not super helpful...
