i have been trying several open source models for the last few years. running qwen 3.6 27b on my 4090 is the first local llm i have used that made me start to second question if anthropic and openai are actually worth the (already) insane valuations.
don't get me wrong, the frontier models are leaps and bounds ahead of what qwen/kimikgemma are doing - but i don't need to drive a ferrari to the grocery store everytime either.
Is prefixing your searches with "before:2024" the new "reddit" of google searches?
I have certainly found myself using this prefix a lot lately for certain topics. I use AI a lot for researching, but sometimes I just want to really read something written by a human as it sinks in much better
Cybersecurity certainly makes money. The good ones make a lot. I mean a lot.
But if you think you can just study for a year and get some security certificates and call it a day, you're going to be sorely disappointed in the compensation.
I started to convert a lot of my content in AV1 until I realized that my Nvidia Shield devices won't play AV1. My $30 firestick will play them but I do really prefer the Shield. I guess I'll wait it out and hope for a new Shield (it's been 2019 since Nvidia released one) but i'm not going to hold my breath.
As we all know here, if the the title of this post was about Codex on the web, the top comment would have been about using Claude instead.
YMMV, but this definitely doesn't track with everything I've been seeing and hearing, which is that Codex is inferior to Claude on almost every measure.
