Yeah I can never find the clip im looking for with Giphy, and if its even slightly controversial of edgy you can forget about it.
I also turn gifs off on slack, its a waste of resources and the gifs are pretty lame anyways.
Instead of an impossible to implement link tax, how about we just made it illegal for search engines to provide these kinds of "pirate" snippets without an opt-in... Either show meta desc, or don't show it at all. Adjust results by relevancy and pagerank (as they used to do) and everyone is happy.
Actually I must admit that I never really gave flex a chance. Don't get me wrong, I miss the flash days as well, its actually kind of sad that open source player / recompiler projects never really got anywhere.
The problem with that, is that flash even as an IDE was not really suited our new responsive web. Its not really good for content or development of anything other than games, animations and ads.
Just ffmpeg your own clips, you can't find what you are looking for on giphy anyways.
