That reminds me of when I told my 10yo daughter about RGB's passing. She had tears in her eyes. And then she did the Wakanda pose and said “Ruthkanda forever”.

Why is that downvoted? It's correct. Talk to anyone who has tried to build housing in these cities. It's all but illegal to build and you need to have the right connections with the political class, along with great wealth to have any hope.

How does one even pull that off? What would be her explanation to friends and family? Or did she slowly lower her tone over the course of months or years, so they didn't even notice?

On the flip side, what if this comes to pass?

First @Neuralink product will enable someone with paralysis to use a smartphone with their mind faster than someone using thumbs

Later versions will be able to shunt signals from Neuralinks in brain to Neuralinks in body motor/sensory neuron clusters, thus enabling, for example, paraplegics to walk again

Great summation of the problem. Unfortunately no one in power seems to actually want to solve it, and voters don't vote them out. We seem to be stuck.

First step: Exercise at all.

Second step: Optimize, but be careful that it doesn't end up compromising step 1.

GDPR is a gift to large corporations. Regulatory capture in return for a slap on the wrist. It also burdens startup competition and trains people to click "Allow Cookies" and "Accept the Terms of Service" as fast as possible.

That's the problem. Those who most want to do that job are the ones who will abuse it the most.

PBS Kids was great the last time I saw it. Have they managed to stay neutral and not become politicized like so much of the media in the US?

Yes, but that was when we had an agreed upon definition. Now the definition is so broad it includes mere disagreement.

That's pushback, but engineers haven't reclaimed the culture and are mostly still silent and afraid.

> People were no longer aligned or empowered, and the incentive system was changed to basically destroy engineering culture.

Same with Google. The intentional misrepresentation and ousting of Damore was a turning point where engineering culture was run over by activist culture.
