been using the 2019 version that I got from work for a couple of weeks now, haven't noticed anything. I run a heavy Docker based setup on MacOS, the fans do make noise but that's about it.
love the concept, especially as a self taught programmer. I've always struggled with algorithms myself, and I find reading books equally boring.
On a side note, what's the UI components library that you're using? I've a hobby project that I'm working on and really liked the style/theme of your app :)
Everyone will have different experiences, but I had the same observation as you, and that's why I choose start-ups over big companies for my first two jobs.
But then I had to get into the "big" companies for visa reasons, and honestly I don't miss start-up world anymore. The learning has been pretty steep, yes in a start-up you wear more hats.
But in my experience, the attention to detail and investment on engineering is higher in bigger companies, simply because they can afford to. Whereas an early stage start-up works more or less on a thin deadline, and if the founders are not engineers themselves, usually engineering gets compromised over velocity. Also, scale. The bigger the company the more challenges they will have (whether in vertical or horizontal scaling). And IMO working at scale, teaches you a lot more than people think.
Before this, the last time I tried FF was when Servo was in it's early days, it was full of bugs and crappy performance. Couldn't use it for more than a few days and had to switch to Chrome.
But this time, the experience was a lot smoother. So it's not a natural switch which happens with time :)
As a long time Chrome user, and someone who (admittedly) said to a FF fan about an year ago, that it's too late for FF to catch up to Chrome now. I gave FF another shot about 6 months ago, and I'm liking it more every month since then.
It has been my primary browser outside of work, the major reason I use Chrome now is for Chrome Dev Tools.
Also, some websites don't behave well in FF and I find that most of the time it's because of the site tracking being blocked. So not a big deal
ROI may be? the market size in Israel is not as big in other countries, so it makes sense to target bigger audience first. Also does Israel have any good local EV manufacturers that can give Tesla any competition?
great writeup! Very easy and to the point. But if I have to suggest something (and I'm just nitpicking here), an example/section summarising everything at the end would've been the "icing on the cake". May be because I read the entire three pages in one go, I got a bit lost in the "Concurrent UI Patterns" examples, primarily when to use `useTransitions`, `useDeferredValue`, `Suspense` and various anti-patterns/edge cases that the examples mentioned :)
Personally for me, I have got more back/shoulder problems from long term computer usage than eye primarily due to bad posture. Though I do wear glasses, but my prescription hasn't changed in the last ~10 years.
