This is not a critque of the work, but I have now been often encountering category theory in many of the research topics I'm working on, and even as somebody who majored in math, I sort of feel like it doesn't add much. I know ML frameworks intimately, and you really don't need category theory to describe them. But this is maybe (probably) a failure of mine, because I have not yet groked what category theory is really bringing to the table.

Yes, unfortunately it's very easy to buy our bureaucrats both at national and EU level. Heck most of them style themselves to be Americans! You make very good points.

IMHO, the EU needs to become more proactive when it comes to tech markets. Trying to find new ways to tax US tech megacorps is not going to cut it.

  1. Create competitive low tax regimes for EU based tech companies, both for investors and employees.

  2. Forbid buyouts by US tech companies.

  3. Become more protective of tech markets in general. For example why the fuck does AirBnB or Uber get to operate in Europe? What is there to gain? We have our own alternatives.

  4. Give preferential treatment to EU based tech companies. For example for government related contracts, why the fuck are EU governments depending on Microsoft/Google/Amazon?

  5. Prioritize tech over other lower growth industries. Yes selling petrol cars was good business 30 years ago.

We are building general thinking machines with the aim of replacing all human labour, ... but humans won't be replaced, they will find other jobs, because when we introduced tractors they were able to find other jobs, ... totally the same scenario.

I love the cognitive dissonance.

Even in the best case scenario where the generated wealth will be distributed, and somehow we will be able to keep them in check (unlikely), what would be the point of life in a world where machines can best us at everything?

I really like the game as a concept, and I got pretty far already, level 2.16, but I feel like some levels aren't making much sense at all in terms of the goal and how the passing circuit fulfills the objective. The Latch and some others had me puzzled. Because it is clearly vibecoded I feel like I cannot really trust the educational material all that much and at times it's not clear if I am misundestanding something or if is just nonsensical LLM slop.

Hmm, yes they are. There's always at least one pony tailed guy, late 20s early 30s, at the local gathering of whatever stands for your progressive party, basically preying on gullible 18 year olds.

I'm not even coming at this from a political angle since I'm more left than right. I just stay true to my perception of the world. Being left of center does not make you somehow morally superior and there are many areas of life where left leaning people have worse morals. And in particular when it comes to intimate relationships, I do feel like many of them have rather loose morals, including around areas of what counts as consent. Maybe that's also the reason why predominantly leftist women are so outspoken about the topic, because they have had so much experience with it. Whereas more conservative leaning women tend to just not fall prey to the sleazy pony tailed guy.

IDK the dating scene in Singapore. I frankly didn't even know that Singapore was considered a tech hub. I was using it as a synonym for a tech hub because that is what I assumed the author was doing.

Maybe so, but not for the same reasons. Back in their home town, they cannot vibe with anyone because the few who might be compatible have long since left. In a STEM hotspot, they go to an event and meet compatible people, but it's 11 guys for every 3 girls, so unless they are top dog in that room, they aren't going to score.

It's fundamentally still a problem of asymmetry of power and connections.

Try to put yourself in the shoes of an FBI agent tasked with investigating this same case. The accused are very wealthy very powerful people with deep pockets. They can and will take action against you, if you're revealed to be chasing after them. Plus, their network of allies is so vast, that you cannot even trust your superiors or other government agencies to back you up. And indeed that is exactly what happened here.

All I want to know is if they are the floury kind or the waxy kind, or some in between hybrid. Floury potatoes are so hard to find these days. Almost everyone is growing these "allrounder" hybrids that cannot really be fried or roasted. I imagine these are also some kind of in between hybrid.

The article really wants to drive home how bad "central planning" is, but the problem, as per the article, originates from the fact that the food banks themselves are operating semi-independently from Feeding America. So actually the whole problem originates because you already have decentralization, which is the opposite of central planning. And this is a common situation with a lot of public services when they do a half-assed approach of providing the service publicly. Healthcare is a good example.

As per the article, the issue was that due to the food banks operating independently, the food banks were not relying information about their locally sourced food donations to Feeding America. Their solution is a fake currency, basically a way of rationing food from Feeding America. But of course they wouldn't put it in those terms, because of the socialist connotation of the word, "rationing". Instead they call it "market design". LOL. But the point is, Walmart which is more centralized than this operation, has no problem. So actually central planning isn't the issue here. The issue here is that you have a decentralized operation that necessitates a market mechanism.

Politics informed by ideological economists creates the problem. Economists informed by political ideologies create the solution to the problem that only exists because of their design.
