MoodieMovie is actually my first side project, and I built it as a learning experience. While the core concept of mood-based recommendations exists in other places (great minds think alike!), my implementation is quite different technically. I used deepseek AI to generate mood tags for each movie in my database, creating a unique mapping system between emotions and film characteristics.
I've also added curated collections like the Top250 and Top100 movie lists to help users discover cinema classics beyond just mood-based browsing. These magazine-style sections are something I'm particularly proud of as they showcase essential films in a visually engaging way.

Films like "The Shining" are recommended because they create and maintain a sense of tension and suspense - essentially giving you a cinematic experience that resonates with your current emotional state.
The philosophy behind this approach is that sometimes when we're feeling a certain way, we want art that validates and explores that feeling rather than contradicting it. It's similar to how some people listen to sad music when they're feeling down.
That said, I completely understand your point - when you're already feeling tense, you might actually prefer something that helps you relax rather than something that heightens that tension! This is really valuable feedback.
