1. People fighting back due to never ending effects caused by these massive data centers

2. Companies realising that they are burning half million to get nowhere

3. Circular investment scaring investors

4. And more recently, companies hiring people back coz the AI aimed to replace humans, created more problems than solved them

5. Memory cartel falling apart, again, they did the same thing during 2000s

6. China is making good ML free, supply and demand, destroying the US tech token business model

7. Even META has too much computer power and no enough use for them.

Those are the main reasons why AI buildout is not just slowing down but falling apart faster than expected.

I have an ASUS RT-AX53U running OpenWRT for a few years now.

I bought it, turned it on and flashed it out of the box lmao

I like the idea of having their own hardware but it is not easy to get, so buying normal ones and flashing them still the best option.

I use CoMaps, it works like a charm on GrapheneOS + Android Auto.

I have also contributed to the OpenStreetMap by adding POI and requesting logic to be changed.

The only major issue which I got used to but sucks, is the search when it does not involved famous places or streets or both.

Streets will be shown as minor or major and alike, I do need to use Google Maps Browser version to find the place, and the on CoMaps manually navigate to said place.

But the fact that I get a map update a week, sometimes two maps update a week which other apps will take months and subscription, that alone is worth hustle.

A few years from now after the AI hype has cooled down (it has already started), where will be two types of people:

1. The ones who use AI for everything and therefore, are unable to think on their own, unable to make decisions on their own, and everything in between.

Looking for a job will be fun because their skills now depend on AI dependency rather than skill.

2. The ones who use AI as tool and therefore, are still able to do things on their own, make decisions on their own.

Looking for a job will be just another Tuesday in the office, and were are already seeing companies hiring them back to replace AI.

It is already implemented and it works like a charm.

I have been using it to explore trails and 4WD tracks, just enabled it on the map at the top left corner.

You will see Outdoors which enables the trails/4WD tracks, Contour Lines and Subway.

Yes, CoMaps has it and I used it this weekend.

Trails and 4WD tracks have a distinctive colour semi-continue lines. I am using exactly that to discover new places and it has been awesome.

>Seems like a big red flag. And another reason to migrate to CoMaps.

Why do you think OM user base forked and mass migrated to CoMaps?? haha
h4kunamata

To the best of my knowledge, Organic Maps is a dying project.

CoMaps was forked from Organic Maps because of shift in how things were being done and ignored. I mean, those in IT know very well how that is ending.

CoMaps is highly active and receiving new features release by release.

If you wanna use a 5 stars app based on OpenStreet Maps: https://www.comaps.app/download/

The fact that OP just posted Organic Maps URL here with no context, and not mentioning that it is a dying project with its user base massively shifting to CoMaps, that is a red flag on its own.

So that is why the USA is banning 3D printing over there, fears of people 3D printing their own fighter jets. It makes sense now.

I pardon to disagree, it is a physical vs digital problem, and it is our fault.

Companies started pushing digital content and we accepted it, Xbox GamePass has been a cancer (I am Xbox player) with all the games destroyed because of it.

Nobody can disagree that digital games is convenient, turn your PC/Console on and that is it, load the game, start playing something else, etc, without leaving your sofa.

We never thought about the consequences of that, look what happened with DVD, Bluray had luck coz its post-peak era happened by the time people started going back to physical disks over streaming services and the downfall of such services.

This is also related to how everything nowadays is digital, requires subscription which removes features like BMW heated seats, firmware update and what not.

Companies made us addicted to everything digital, that gives them full control, higher price for less, Amazon Prime without ADs requires a higher tier, Sygic Offline mobile app now requires higher tier to have access to features that were once part of the lower tier.

Gaming studios until recently were focused on live services over single player games, it is digital, content is behind paywall, etc and etc.

Digital DLCs over releasing a new game coz that would force physical release.

This is our fault and we might have gone past the point of no return!!

My Lenovo Legion gaming laptop running Linux Mint Cinnamon takes ~10s to boot. I hardly ever leave it on, I mean why??

It is silly to use a cron job to do something that only takes 2s for a human to do.

My homelab Debian Netinst servers tho, run non-stop for months or even years without reboot.

Half century ago Linux had a bug where servers had to be rebooted after X hours, that is no longer an issue. Windows however requires a reboot because its pagination memory gets full and the longer you run it, the more the performance goes to shit.

>The more we offload our thinking to agents though... I feel like it will be harder to reason against it as time goes on, until someone gets burned personally.

Definitely!!

It is here to stay, it was poorly made public so now it is widely being used to break into systems forcing companies to depend on it to fight machine with machine.

However, that doesn't mean granting it full access to your cloud environment, and this is what lots of companies are getting wrong.

There is no proper bondary in place, all it needs is a single mistake and there goes your entire enviromment on the positive side, on the negative side your env is now open to the public :)

>Where I am there is zero emphasis on security with agents

This was terrible before AI anyway, agentic AI tools is just exposing what already existed.

Plus, as companies are blindly using AI code generated, there are no measures in place to make sure that code doesn't have vulnerabilities in it either.

It is the perfect storm.

>Did you find an issue that Claude did not, because you ran the webserver end to end, connected to a real database? Good, now give Claude Code an API key to the database and get out of the way. No need for copy-paste next time

Yup, that is why we are seeing so many production databases being deleted, endless vulnerabilities.

No engineer with proper common sense will grant an agentic AI, API access to the database.

"Ohh but it is ready-only API access", it does not matter. You are still using a public service and your data is being stored elsewhere for training.

Unless you are self-hosting an agentic + LLM solution, it shouldn't have read-only access to a database. This does not affect companies because they just wanna AI to replace engineers everywhere they can.

>Who will create the first advertisement in space using satellites as pixels to create their company logo? Maybe they can add some color and animations for kicks.

Normal satellites can already be hacked, they provide zero to no security at all.

We are already full of ADs, this will be just another hobby for people into hacking. Imagine it displaying a gigantic pe** haha

On a serious note, as everything standards, they are already interfering with observations. Wait until we can no longer tell if it is an atificial sattelite or some massive asteroid coming from the direction of the son.

Humans are dooming their own existence lmao

Age verification is an excuse to hide the fact that parents have become useless and should have their rights of becoming parents revoked.

If you ask any millenial, none of this bs existed during our time, parents wouldn't think twice to educate you, if you know you know haha

That statement is weird in itself because said parents are yesterday's millenial.

Add to that how companies and governments are trying to become a China. You cannot silence those that you don't know who they are.

Ohh did you say something a politician or a cop didn't like??? Now they can hunt you down and force you to delete the post or whatever.

Sci-fi movies are no longer just si-fi movies, it is easier than never to:

1. Know how you are and all the consequence behind that

2. Be a victim of identity theft. Look at how many millions of personal information including passports have been leaked into the dark web. In 2026, if you have the right skill and like doing the wrong thing, you can be anyone because their name, address, phone, photo, passporte, everything, is right there.

What gives me peace of mind is that by the time everything goes to shit, I am not longer in this world lmao haha

Public DNS is blackbox, they always have problems especially if you are using your ISP.

I run my own Unbound recursive DNS, it only talks with the 13 root nameservers and has its own caching, the subsequent requests are lightning fast.

It is for local use only, it is not exposed to the public. When I leave home, I have a WireGuard VPN at home so my phone connects to it and the full traffic is sent via my home network.

Everything works flawlessly for the past 5 years or so.

>There are plenty of popular games that don't work on Linux

Games that require kernel level spyware installed???

Good luck getting a Linux user to do make such stupid choice. Giving you a company kernel level aka full access to your operating system just to play a game. Yeah mate, normal people won't do that.

Fortnite?? Couldn't give half care about this game.

>But fundamentally, Proxmox is built around clicking buttons. It is a GUI-first paradigm. While you can automate it with Terraform or Ansible, it often feels like fighting the tool. State drift is real. You change a setting in the UI to debug something, forget about it, and six months later your “infrastructure as code” is out of sync with reality.

Share the whole thing :)

Again, if you are managing everything as IaC, why touching the UI to make changes??

OP POV I just shared above tells everything that is wrong and Proxmox is not it.

In practice, they are not the same and therefore, you are not losing anything by giving up the other.

Privacy: Not having your phone's app collecting all sort of information. Why does an album app wanna access your phone, contacts, geo location???

Why do I need to provide a personal document to have access to X?? Some posts won't show if I don't install X App and provide a digital ID which I don't do thanks to OPNSense.

Anonymity: You shouldn't be on the internet in the first place, everything you do and post stays here forever.

Even if you are using burner accounts, if you commit a digital crime, you can be tracked, full stop.

People are using VPN expecting to become "anonym", that is not what it is for.
