Maybe this is interesting to some. I stumbled upon this link in Spotify’s privacy policy and found the stats surprising. In 2024, Spotify processed nearly 30 million user requests to opt-out of data sharing for tailored ads. Additionally, they received 7.5 million requests for deletion (presumably accounts).
I’m sure there’s legal rationale for the transparency, but I found the opt-out requests surprisingly high. Per their 4Q24 earnings [0], they reported 675 monthly active users, so a roughly 4% opt-out rate. I’d have never guessed 30 million people worldwide were that privacy-conscious.
I submitted this link to HN with the Reddit title in quotes. Not sure why the quotes were removed, but I want to clarify that I am not the Reddit post author.
Long time BirdNET fan, but I used the Merlin app for the first time yesterday and found it much more useful [0] It’ll display multiple bird species at the same time, and highlight which song belongs to which species in real-time. Recommend giving it a shot if you haven’t!
This is a bummer - headed to Berlin for the first time in a few weeks and hoped to visit. Any recommendations for similarly geek-oriented side trips in Berlin?
