Linkedin used to be useful primarily for job hunting and keeping in touch with those who you know professionally but would prefer not add to any personal social channels (I dont need my coleagues to know i was a key stakeholder at the mud party at Wacken metal fest). I am not sure anymore since everyone who posts seems to be an AI expert pontificating about all-things- AI and how they can help me learn more (just click their link in the comments!). Its truly become a mud pit of people stepping on each other to get noticed. With a shitty job market, I think the below two prominent suggestions from linkedin have truly "transformed" this site. "Members who post once per week on average see up to 4x more profile views." "Members who comment once per week on average see up to 3x more profile views."

Even posting a polite congratulatory comment to someone you admire is now also being exploited for self gain and views.

Dig the Picker which lets you click the chord name and shows its visual. I think in chord symbols and play a ton of shapes but cant remember their names for the life of me. The visual fingering solves this. To atleast be articulate about what i'm tryin to play. All the other stuff seems less useful.

Feels like a new consulting wave which is implementation-led by AI vendors taking a large share of the services layer. The existing consulting companies (big 4 etc) will have to shift to niche advisory or heavy channel partnerships with way fewer consultants.

Curious if allowing AI-based submissions was because there is no reliable way of filtering this out 100%? Would have loved to read these submissions in search of some stellar non-ai writing.

> Marketing, Finance, and HR

Having this hype ingested fully by finance is lethal. Ive witnessed CFOs fully believing a lot of the hype and that directly leads to massive chopping of random teams on a spreadsheet with 'use ai' directives.

I usually ensure i have a vision of how it needs to sound. I know im going for lower reverb, more compression, more guitar prescence etc and have years of crappy mixes to my credit so pretty clear of what i dont want. Where it helps a lot is analying the first pass mix I make myself and then letting it know specific instructions like lower the gain but not below 3db , tell me any other changes to ensure i keep the compression intact. THen automate stuff like always creating a separate guitar bus with 2-4Khz boost and blend with main guitar track. Analyze the spectrum analyzer to analyze the sine waves and smooth the high ends. Also ask it to bounce separate mixes with headroom so i can pick one Im also building some tools on the side to let me create plugin tones based on reference tracks/axemen which I add to the mix ( had posted the link on here a while back). Working this way has helped me learn Logic with step function improvement since i dont let it take control but ask it to give me instructions ( like a senior engineer would).Just asking it to take control and mix without a vision usually ends up sounding pretty generic. Still a work in progress though. Hope that added some clarity.

A lot of my hobbyist musician friends were way more prolific during covid. The extra time seemed to have unlocked their ability to be way more creative to de-stress. I myself had a burst of activity recording music and improving my guitar technique for a couple of years.Sadly it dipped again post covid. However, more recently I'm trying to find a middle ground with AI cutting corners with the boring repeatable stuff of audio engineering and shifting focus to the creative and the technique. Feels like things have turned the corner here and I can get a pretty professional mix out quick without sacrificing my creativity. I love that middle ground where AI is truly helping me accelerate my output as a hired gun that mixes my sound while the calluses and note selections/ arrangement are all mine.

Neat rabbit hole. Reminds me of having to deal with email spam - it was a similar deal with rule-based filters, ML scores, domain bans,IP filtering, browse fingerprinting etc and mishmash of ever evolving scripts surviving org and personnel changes. Glad i dont deal with it anymore as the frontier seems to be 2 fronts now with human and agentic spam.

The billions companies spend on awareness, converson, retention etc will only grow and non vibe-coded software will continue to be the input (doesnt "become" marketing) into a very sophisticated go-to-market machine occupied by various players ( brands, publishers, agencies etc). Still this is directionally interesting if only aimed at SMBs SaaS.

A lot of it is also the history associated with all the strat cats from the 1950s onwards and really good marketing by fender, you're buying a real strat because you want to be in that company (Buddy Holly to Gilmour etc). I recall only wanting a strat when i was in my wannabe-yngwie phase. nothing else would fit.

Particularly for a company that possibly has to navigate high-volume, often frivolous litigation and brand attacks from trolls. I have been in similar situations having to partner with legal defending the most frivolous things on products released. You literally sign docs to not do such things when u onboard. Not sure what the point of broadcasting this is though.

"Considering all his works in his Bonn period from age 12 to 22, we must conclude, that we have an extremely meagre list of compositions, compared to Mozart or other productive composers."

I used to think AI summaries in emails were sorta useful until I was dealing with a particularly long engagement with a law firm where their paralegal sends out AI-generated recaps. After a couple of months, I was at my wits end at the paralegal sending me these summaries. They absolutely trashed most conversation threads with barren slop and mixed up convo threads. I think it may have been Copilot they were using.
