The privacy friendliness was the killer for me

Why do they begin justifying by talking about 70% of buyers using mobile? Completely off topic

I can’t stand push notifications, I disable them all except for a couple (like signal). They are usually only part of the app to manipulate you into using it constantly

Any other resources you would recommend? I read that physics is particularly time consuming for example. Thanks for the replies so far; it’s very fun to see your work

I think all that counts. I guess I’m just tempted to make a game engine as a hobby project. I made an OpenGL renderer in uni once (it was fun), but I don’t really know what the scope would be to extend it substantially - obviously, not to “unreal” levels or anything even close

How long did the client side engine take to build, if you had been able to do it full time?

How come more websites do not accept brave payments? If I had a website, what is the process required to begin accepting them?

Edit: typo

Could you clarify a tiny bit? I’m not sure I follow. If you are not including images or video in the ads, does that mean that you are downloading them at view time from somewhere, or that the ads have no images or video?

Also, what are edge cached urls?

I find the XPS has a disappointing keyboard actually.

I used to love the abstract symbolic manipulation of pure math, but have not worked with it in many years and find it unintuitive now. I have a harder time trusting the abstractions. I wonder how to get my old sense back - it never, ever came from practice problems for example in the past. I miss proofs

Are the Math olympiads similar to competitive coding?

I don’t think anyone on earth thinks they are good for you

MBSR is well studied and proven, but it’s worth noting that meditation has only recently become an area of medical research. If we insisted on the rule that we only try what is proven through research, meditation would have “gone extinct” thousands of years ago and nobody would benefit from it today

Sometimes when I have insomnia I sort of daydream instead of sleeping. When I get up, I am more rested than the 3-4 hours or actual sleep would suggest. I had wondered if the daydreaming was similar enough to sleep to be a poor substitute

Apparently a non trivial percent of the population gets by with 5-6 hours due to having a certain gene. I had assumed it was quite rare, but found out that I know several of them.

They are more awake during the day than I am.

The waking up app was more to my taste personally. I’m not a consistent practitioner however

I want to take the opportunity to blame SEO for this. The top results are games so hard that not-rarely the first page is nothing but spammy seo sites now. Depends a lot on what you are searching for though.

That sort of intolerant social pressure also led to a famously high suicide rate and a culture of workaholism that led to a word for “death by working too much”

Antisocial behaviours included women going to work and homosexuality in the past btw

You can’t ban people’s right to be in public anonymously because a few crazies will use it to commit crimes. The solution of banning those measures is nearly equivalent to saying “all humans should be under 24/7 surveillance in public by the state for their own good”

...and for 14 years no ordinary user has understood what those default settings do, instead assuming “their software provider wouldn’t do that...”
