An "open" healthy organisation does not stack the cards during major policy discussions by forbidding major arguments against the adoption of a position its backers clearly want. The author is right to call that out. It was an extremely disappointing move for Rust to make.

There is also Seraph (prevents common attacks, remote software etc) from the team behind the KitBoga scam-baiting streamer.

"Powerful anti-scam software that proactively detects, blocks, and alerts you to online threats before they cause harm. " https://www.seraphsecure.com/

Well, one did suddenly develop the need to tell users continuously about apparent white genocide in South Africa.

Many of the UK's post-Brexit trade deals have been the previous EU one with a slight tweak. Even the much touted US beef deal was built on an EU scheme and was rather minimal at that. It's not surprising then that the EU and UK are similar. The lack of UK growth over the EU is a big indictment of Brexit from an economic perspective.

A huge thank you to the KDE team. Plasma is good (finally) on Wayland for me (AMD graphics, single hi-dpi screen). I finally switched over from GNOME and I am happy with the experience.

I'm sure the AI is not biased and has a diverse training data set accurately representing the war-torn and impoverished countries these asylum seekers are coming from.

Because water access is constrained geographically. You have to pipe it in if you use it all up. The US is seeing the worst spring drought on record: https://time.com/article/2026/05/10/drought-US-farmers-crops...

Americans are just as regulated and with even more egregious regulatory capture (see the American broadband/mobile provider cartel). At least Europeans get a little consumer protection.

It's going to work for the most part. Most people know that. It's a file by file, mostly function by function, conversion from one low level language to another with a very large test suite (with lots of Rust unsafe to work around differences). I've done that for C tools and it's fine, with some obscure edge cases here and there. The challenges are going to be making the new, very ugly, alien codebase idiomatic Rust in future and adding features or debugging the complex issues. I wish the developers luck. They're in for a slog.

I'm curious how much this would cost a paying customer. Can you please give us an estimate?

Has he estimated the token cost for this (if he had to pay that is)? I'm curious how much this would cost a paying customer.

The benefit of using Rust is that you know exactly where the unsafe code is so you can handle it explicitly and deliberately to avoid issues by imposing carefully crafted constraints... oh.

How did you guys detect it? Do you use it internally or do you monitor popular packages?

> ABC4’s crew was also issued a trespassing notice.

The class system in the US has never been more on display with the datacenter build outs. A senator who attacks a journalist gets them threatened by the police. Town halls to listen to local "concerns" are charades where they look for any excuse to arrest anyone who voices opposition [1].
