I'm not sure I agree that there isn't Financial Education out there? I've used Schwab for 20+ years (yes old guy here) and now TDAmeritrade and I can tell you, they are all about education.

Yes, and they also use Oracle, DB2 and Others that are proprietary.

Open source DB's are great, but scaling them easily is not something the Enterprise world has time for, time is money.

I think Postgres and MySQL have come a long way.
