Twitch is definitely doing something right. Non-mainstream sports should definitely see what Twitch has done with the gaming world and try to do the same with their perspective sports. ESPN does a great job covering the mainstream sports, and they have yet to capture the secondary sports market. Seems like an opportunity for someone to do.
I agree with the idea of not being sure about MM's stance on quality. If they literally thought we wouldn't be able to taste the difference - that's a bit disappointing.
Totally agree. Our first pass was to pull in location information from Google Places and Foursquare, but we feel the beauty of something like this would be the unique locations like you mentioned above.
hey zach, we just fixed the bug. just tried both seattle to redmond and seattle to yakima -- worked all the way through. let me know if there's any issues on your end still. thanks!
That's funny you say that. The "time" situation was something we struggled with to find what the best experience would be. The questions we had were:
- Do you stop 1 hour all the time when you stop at a restaurant? What if you take it to-go?
- What if you stop at a stop like the World's Largest Frying Pan for just 5 minutes? Should we allow users to add custom time limits for each of the stops?
- Would we be complicating things adding custom times?
All great questions and things for us to think about. Thanks a ton for the feedback.
@porfirio: Thanks a lot for trying it out. We're currently pulling in data from various sources like Foursquare, Google Places, etc. -- but we do add unique stops as well. Currently we've filled out unique stops for the PNW (since we're based here), but CA is definitely one we'd like to tackle soon.
I'm not sure if it's just me, or is there a ton of news coming out surrounding ebooks? Google eBooksore, book renting on Kindles, Kobo > Borders, and Nook color doing well. With more readers gravitating toward eBooks, I think authors are going to want to continue to have that personal touch with their readers. Digital autographs may be filling that void in a small way. I'm excited to see what's next. I know I want a personalized haiku. :)
I think company culture is what you make of it, especially in a startup. You have the ability to help shape the workplace you're in and if you don't contribute, don't complain.
For me, I want to enjoy coming to work because of two reasons: (1) Building a product that connects with me and solves a real problem (2) I enjoy working with the people I'm with. It's the sense of camaraderie you build. All that other stuff contributes to that.
