You must accept the cold hard truth that you can't get rid of freedesktop.org unless you move to MacOS os Windows. Even *bsd s are infected with it the moment you want to do anything desktop-y with them.

Erm

Recovery partition has been a thing for like 20 years now.

and the reset PC feature more than a decade.

because H265 predates AV1 by 5 years. H265’s contemporary was VP9, which was honestly worse than H264 done with a good encoder like x264.

I wouldn't mind getting 1080ti s , kaby lake cores or gigabytes of DDR4 for cheap.

Then, after getting acquired by Qualcomm they got sued by ARM.

So maybe they were assholes.

No I didn't. I intentionally only wrote just OLED because it doesn't have anything to do with HDR not it requires any special support and it doesn't make any fucking sense why they included it along with HDR.

What is this 7-paragraph OLED talk about?

I can plug an OLED display to a fricking Windows XP system with a Maxwell GPU and it'll work perfectly fine as long as it has a goddamn HDMI port. Has nothing to do with OS support.

> You go to an older version that only got security updates so you will lack optimizations and features already in the current stable windows 10.

That's some very confident sounding bullshit.

Latest LTSC is 21H2, which exactly the same build as the (non-LTSC) 22H2. The only difference is the feature enablement package. Which means you aren't lacking any optimizations.

I'm not even sure if it's missing any "features", but even if it does, I'm 101% sure it some BS "feature".

Dumb title.

It works by reading the block device in /dev directly, wouldn't it also work on an HDD, flash drive or a memory card?

7th gen still supported DDR3L (with a suitable motherboard, obviously) and it's possible with 9th gen if you're willing to try "coffee time" mod.

Nah. Search for "Nokia h264" and see for yourself how they've sued like every single vendor in recent years, because they want to double dip.

I believe, at this point they could direct AI to vibe rewrite every UI code written after 2010 in Win32 and MFC and the result would still be vastly better than crap they push us nowadays.

Has nothing to do with video codec.

Download the video with yt-dlp & play it in mpv you'll see it even flies on a potato.

Play the same in browser and it'll be dropping frames left and right.

Patent mob seems more fitting.

Another example is Qualcomm

As opposed to what, like HEVC? Where you need to pay 3 different patent pools to be sure (which all has different terms), then there's still other patent holders that aren't in any pools and come and hit you with loyalty requests any time under terms however they like to?
