> Better the nanny state than Nanny Zuck.

This is a huge self own. I can't believe I'm reading this on a website called "hacker news".

if an employee exercise options (but stays at the company) does that still count as one of 1000?

there used to be rules that companies must be public if they have other 1000 investors. is this no longer the case?

no. this role is for running ads campaigns at scale (on google, meta, etc) to grow openai users. its at a large enough scale it's called "platform" but it would be internal use only.

> Your role will include projects such as developing campaign management tools, integrating with major ad platforms, building real-time attribution and reporting pipelines, and enabling experimentation frameworks to optimize our objectives.

When you're pulling the "Stockholm syndrome" card you're basically implying the drivers are stupid and unable to recognize they're victims.

Not sure how else to read your previous statement.

This is not a good comparison because they're dismantling the whole business model with this ruling.

With the new requirements in place (e.g. actually hiring employees and providing benefits) the barrier to entry here is waaaaay higher than before. I would argue Ride Austin would have never even started (especially as a non profit) if these requirements were in place the last time Uber/Lyft shut down in Austin.

disagree here. you're judging society on the most naive ranking a student would give. in an ideal world you can optimize for the perfect amount of understanding and imperfect leaps for each student to best address long term understanding and success.
