This is an interesting point, and I think one that anyone considering this approach should consider. The way we segregate multi-cloud is the delivery of primarily our front-end app. Depending on if you are in an EU or US region you will be redirect to an API instance and then have direct connectivity of that API, this is mainly due to regulatory requirements.

I know it's counter to your question, but it really is quite trivial to containerise a java app, for example:

  FROM openjdk:8u92-jdk-alpine
  COPY file.jar file.jar

  CMD java -Duser.timezone=UTC -cp file.jar com.foo

and to stay on-topic, you can run java apps in mesos without a docker wrapper :)

This is indeed very sad news. We at BillForward (YCS14) found the Balanced payments platform for ACH very well designed.

Plaid and Stripe certainly have caught up and both and offer good ACH alternatives. Best of luck to those migrating. Happy to chat with anyone who is interested in help with gateway independent ACH payments and subscription management. I'm on ian AT billforward . NET

As someone who used to play with debugger implementations a bunch it's nice to see some articles digging into this.

Only feedback I would give is to remove the shadow on your text, I had to manually disable the shadow before I was able to read :).

Stripe is great if you want to build it yourself but when you start doing more sophisticated things, multiple pricing plans, tiered pricing, fixed-terms etc your development team will have to spend a lot of time building these tools internally.

BillForward also aims to provide more infrastructure around metrics and general management of subscriptions.

Interesting, quite neat that you can share the data between organizations in a permissioned manner. Pricing is interesting, you may want to consider a usage based model rather than flat fee.

Hi, thanks for the feedback on messaging.

What we are trying to do is enable companies to have a single billing platform that grows with them from simple flat priced subscriptions all the way up to subscriptions which have multiple components and pricing strategies.

For example some of our customers sell their subscriptions with 3 or 4 components, for example international calls, local calls, 4g usage, 3g usage etc. Inside each of these units they give discounts the more you use. For example up to 100 minutes of X is $1 a minute, whereas anything above 100 minutes X is charged at 75c a minute.

Our goal is to enable any company to bill how they want without hassle or constraints of building out a full subscription stack. Billing models such as tiered/volume pricing and usage billing can get complex but we make them very simple to use. You can often implement these features in places such as Stripe et al but often the minutiae becomes complex. We built the product that can scale from a simple flat price all the way up to composite price plans with tiered/volume pricing.
