good luck actually enforcing that.

Depends on where you live.

Cameras worked pretty well, but most people take photos with their phones nowadays. Pro photographers still mostly use cameras though.

I can envision a future where people have a humanoid trimming a small backyard but at the same time the maintenance of e.g. a golf course would be done by dedicated robots.

EDIT: my point is that just like smartphones replaced a number of specialised devices for most people, a humanoid robot could do the same, by virtue of being a general purpose machine

For sure, but incentives are different when your pay is perfectly proportional to output rather than having a salary.

A bubble doesn't mean a dead end - e.g. after the .com bubble, Internet usage kept expanding by orders of magnitude for two decades.

An AI bubble is pretty much guaranteed at this point but that doesn't mean there's going to be a new AI winter.

Can you give some examples of jobs that are usually done by salaried employees and are paid by output? All the examples I can think of, are usually done by independent contractors.

> I think it’s pretty naive to ask your employer for a day off.

Someone said the same before 1938, probably [1]

I think it's possible that AI will bring as much of a shift to our lives as the industrial revolution did, so it might be necessary to make some adjustments, just like we did back then.

> you have a limited number of global supported indexes, 5 iirc

you can create 20 global (GSI) and 5 local (LSI) indexes per table[1], I think the number must have been lower at some point in the past, because it's not the first time I hear this complaint

UPDATE: it appears this is no longer a problem. Just tried again today, after verifying the number they ask if this is a personal or work account, I selected "Personal" and now I can use Claude both for work and for my own stuff.

I did complain about it in our chat and my boss later reached out, offering to set up a number on our company's Twilio account but by that time I had already entered my personal number.

Maybe it depends on the plan. We are on Team not Enterprise.

Anthropic forces everyone to verify both.

ANthropic never wanted my money anyway... they don't allow work + personal accounts to have the same phone number. I had to close my personal account otherwise I could not complete onboarding at work.

So I pay for Codex instead.

I'm interested in knowing more about this topic, do you have any resources about the relationship between Swhartz and Altman?

I would not just rely on situations that are explicitly seen as "dating", such as bars or dating sites.

In my experience joining an IRL group activity is what works best (volunteering, community service, church, local band/orchestra/choir, group lessons, team sports etc) - even if you don't find your future partner there, at least you can make a few IRL friends and you will feel less lonely.

But sticking around doesn't solve the scenario mentioned by parent.

1. some interesting projects gets to HN main page

2. author of the project is not on HN so creates a green account and interacts

even if that person would have the patience to stick around, by the time they would be able to respond, it would be too late for it to be relevant to the (now stale) discussion.

Same here, I don't know anyone who might send me an invite unfortunately. It's unlikely for this topic to come up organically in a conversation as in "hey by the way are you on lobste.rs" so my previous attempts were by sending messages in my company's notice board asking if someone is there. But in the last few years I have worked in smaller startups so the sample size is too small for this strategy to succeed.

I had the same issue, and in my case it turned out it was caused by Logitech G Hub which was running in the background. I uninstalled it and did not experience the issue again. My suggestion is to check any background process that might be doing that.
