K8s is a complicated beast. CTOs hiring for their 10 person company because of its "used everywhere" is a bad reason to adopt a major piece of technology. You can always graduate to it later if need be.
Linear still only uses j/k for up and down. I've asked over and over for the past 5 years for ctrl+n/ctrl+p up and down and have gotten nonsensical answers from support.
What's crazier is they support this navigation key combo in their command palette but no where else.
The vim line nav is a nice thing in apps, but it's extremely frustrating I can't change it.
Haven't used railway but my understanding is they are something similar to Heroku. Fly.io has been pretty great for tiny projects in that niche.
For Vercel if your nextjs site can be compiled statically you could probably throw it up on almost anything. We've self hosted before which is pretty straightforward but you lose a lot of the image optimization stuff unless you go deep into setting up open next.
It produces little product value sure. However on the flip side the eng team basically spent two months of salary teaching this employee some incredibly important lessons around being pragmatic and crafting software that can be maintained by the team.
