The old saying "they've forgotten more about X than you'll ever know" is very true. A professional quite often has forgotten what it was like to be a beginnner, making them both very knowledgeable about a topic but also very likely to give dangerous advice to a beginner.

No, but Wayland is not a bit of software you even think about until it goes wrong. That means the internet gets disproportionately filled with posts about Wayland not working, which presents the wrong image.

When reading up on what desktop environment to use, it's hard to get a balanced view unless there are commenters like this, saying that running Wayland works.

From looking at history, it seems to me that every generation brings about social change, and it starts off being criticised by the previous generation as rebellion without cause, or that its gone too far. So far looking back we've yet to go too far.

That's not to say that some friction isn't required for stability.

If you browse the internet, they could know what websites are visited by the same person, but not who they are exactly.

If you visit a load of websites, then also log into google, they connect the two and they know what websites were visited by you specifically.
