The firmware team is small and owns application firmware, device connectivity, automated testing, manufacturing tools, and an MQTT backend for OTA updates and fleet telemetry.
We're hiring a staff embedded systems engineer focused core firmware architecture on the Charlie induction range.
In this role, you may:
- Own major pieces of our embedded platform and prototypes of future products.
- Lead improvements to device connectivity (Wi-Fi, BLE, OTA, provisioning, failure recovery) and energy management.
- Evolve fleet management, telemetry, and remote management/update systems with a focus on robustness and cost efficiency at scale.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews and day-to-day technical collaboration.
Tech stack: C and Python; FreeRTOS on ESP-IDF; 802.11, BLE, CAN; MQTT; AWS
Salary: $182k–$210k + equity

In the next year, you may:
- Build out our cross-platform application development SDK written in Rust, and supporting others developing new product offerings.
- Co-design new APIs with our cloud team (MQTT, HTTP, and gRPC).
- Collaborate with specialists in data science and power electronics to support simulation testing of power control behaviors in our application stack.
