It's true that China is making massive investments in semiconductors.

However, due to US sanctions, they face clear limitations when it comes to advanced nodes.

Furthermore, a $520 billion investment isn't the kind of capital you deploy just thinking about a short-term boom.

Unless Microsoft, the owner of Minecraft, raises an IP infringement issue, there is no reason to consider hosting private servers illegal. I fail to understand the ESA's reasoning or why they even brought this up.
