If I had posted a recent article you would have said that wasn't evidence of a long term trend. The problem has gotten worse and it's impacting the entire country now. My family members work at hospitals in rural eastern WA, and not only has the local hospital system there already collapsed, but the entire Providence medical system for all of the Pacific Northwest is at risk of going under too. This is a direct result of uninsured migrant workers and medicaid underpayment.

It's hardly extraordinary. This has been a major problem for decades, and it's only gotten worse. I'm sorry it disagrees with your politics, but illegal immigration is bankrupting hospitals. Here is a previous attempt to shore up some of the financial losses:

Admitting they're just an ad company would collapse the delusion that drives their share price.

> Because Putin might see it and nuke us to prove us wrong?

Way to twist things around. No, it's reckless because you're gambling about the end of the world.

What an extraordinarily reckless article.

It's a fallacy to suggest that economic growth is finite, because human invention isn't a finite resource.

You opened by saying that you're not proposing economic stagnation, but then wrote several paragraphs arguing for economic stagnation. Human technology isn't a finite resource.

The space of possible future human technologies is effectively infinite, to say nothing of extraplanetary resources.

GDP per capita would effectively give you the same metric, unless you're also implying that we need to cull the human population.

Degrowth is a euphemism for economic recession/depression.

Tax revenue is a tiny fraction of GDP, so the national debt is already many multiples over income. The current $1 trillion annual interest payments on the debt are larger than the entire defense budget. Worse, annualized interest payments are still going up by about $200B per quarter.

This would completely destroy an entire industry if they did this. Not just in AI directly, but also secondary and tertiary industries developing their own bespoke models for specialized use cases. This would be a total disaster.

> no contagion has spread

What are you talking about? This is contagion from FTX/Silvergate/SVB/Signature/Credit Suisse, all of which have failed in recent weeks.

>This is among the best job markets for workers in US history.

And yet most companies are either laying people off or have hiring freezes, and I've personally been unemployed for three months now. Your post has no basis in reality, and it sounds like you're trying to come up with post hoc justifications for your political orthodoxy.
