Not the first time and not going to be the last. Unless you can download it to hardware you completely own and can make a backup, it's not really yours. Online purchases I can get on with, like Bandcamp are pretty good. I bought the new Globular album on CD and it took 10 days to get to me from the UK. I also had access to high quality downloads. That works, these other models do not.

Gimp is unintuitive for a lot of people including myself. I've tried it for years and just don't like the way it works. Forcing people to do it your way is not always the best way. This is an option, it's not forced on anyone and it's great for those that want to transition. People have requested it for years.

A docker release would be great. Looks like a more modern version of ManyNotes.

This is great. I'm building a site that has JavaScript but is fully functional without it, this would be fun to see how it renders it. I use htmx, AlpineJS and Vanilla JS just for additional help for users with forms and search but works fine without it. Thanks for sharing this.

I will recompile ladybird too. Last time it had made great progress but was no where near read for regular use.

I added rsgain to piCorePlayer. Should be in the latest repository. Great utility IMO.

Thanks! I have never heard of it. Need to buy my son a new ipad so I can use this with his old one.

If you're coming from photoshop then PhotoGIMP is a good patch for gimp. I never understood why GIMP just didn't take this approach to begin with or at least make it a built in option.

Have you checked out Ladybird, it's independent.

Solid piece, very wise. AI is fun but where I find it useful with code is first writing more thorough comments and then writing the base of your tests.

Writing the actual code that's efficient is iffy at times and you better know the language well or you'll get yourself in trouble. I've watched AI make my code more complex and harder to read. I've seen it put an import in a loop. It's removed the walrus operator because it doesn't seem to understand it. It's used older libraries or built-ins that are no longer supported. It's still fun and does save me some time with certain things but I don't want to vibe code much because it removes the joy out of what you're doing.

Wayland is the future and yes it took some time but I've been using it for a while. Sure there are annoyances but nothing terrible.

People complained about pipewire and wireplumber too, but they're fantastic. It's great in the DAW. It just takes a long time to get everything compatible.

UV, Ruff, and Ty are all very good things, hopefully that doesn't change and gets better.

Using VSCodium I was having issues with python type checkers for quite a while. I did the basedpyright thing for a while but that was painful. It's a bit too based for me, and I'm not sure i'd call it based. Right now I have uv, ruff, and ty and I'm happy with it. It's super easy to update and super fast. I didn't realize the coverage wasn't as good as some others but I still like it. I may have to try pyrefly. Never heard of it until this post, so thank you.

Sure, they were expensive but they have great endurance and sustained read and write speeds. I use one in my car for camera recordings. I had gone through several other drives but this one has been going on 3 or 4 years now without issue. I have a couple more in use too. It's a shame this tech is going away because it's excellent.

Start doing daily outdoor walks or runs, whatever you prefer. Spend more time outdoors and away from noise if you can (easy for me to say as I live on the edge of a forest). Join some hiking clubs, you'll meet all kinds of interesting people. Learn to meditate and take some breathing exercise classes (locally or online) and get off the medications as quickly as you can.
