I think Apple was the first to jump on this bandwagon. The others are following along.

What if Apple took your argument to the extreme and remove the URL bar, back button and the tabs bar so you can focus on the website? Would you be OK with that?

I agree, at least with the phone, there's limited screen. There's NO reason why the scrollbar should be invisible for the desktop though.

Most non tech users never change the defaults on their phones/laptops. This means for those users, the scrollbar is effectively removed (other than scrolling).

But are the people who are buying the big SUVs in an arms race against Semis/Big Pick ups? Everybody knows their cars can't compete in size compared to Semis/Big pick ups. I believe their arm races are against other consumers who are driving big SUVs. They're looking to have the biggest SUVs on regular roads (outside the highway).

I agree but I think consumers will jump to electric cars instead now that they're an option.

But does this include pedestrians and bikers who are killed by vehicles?

What happens when people see the high cost of gas and switch to big electric cars instead?

You break the arms race by limiting the size.

Exactly, if I can afford it, can I drive a tank around that hogs two lanes? Why is that illegal? Why is nobody protesting the government banning Juul?

Kei cars are awesome but sadly they will never be safe on American roads even if they're street legal. The speed of our roads and the sizes of our cars will basically kill you if you get into an accident in a Kei car. If our speed limits were lowered and our cars were smaller, I would love to own one of those.

The government can levy large taxes on new big vehicles just like they did with cigarettes. If the largest SUVs had a 25% tax on it, I think most people will not buy it (basically limiting it). Or if the gas prices went to $10 a gallon, people will ditch their big vehicles.

Maybe the government needs to limit the amount of money going i to ads/tracking by enforcing data privacy and banning certain practices like fingerprinting users and stalking them around the web.

I didn't know that! Maybe they should put that in guidelines or not permaban people?

I agree spam is a problem if it's actually spam. I would think the Reddit hivemind would push back articles down and good articles up. Articles like this is kinda broad; there's really no particular sub I can think of that would fit into.

what's a good niche sub about technology?

Unreadable inefficient code should be caught in pull requests. If its already in the code base, it should be refactored as the code gets touched.

Some non techie users might not think to do that since they received what appears a legitimate email from Venmo.
