There's correlation, but mistaking that for causation prevents us from being able to identify root problems and actually solve issues. Asians outperform in academics. Blacks outperform in basketball. Whites outperform in hockey. You can just as easily say those correlations are a result of racism as any other race-based statistic, but again, you'd be mistaken.
