With the end of easily available rtl-sdr dongles it's a relief to see someone has wrung such exceptional RF instantaneous bandwidth out of an RPI alternative interface. I really hope use of the camera interface for RF takes off.

I played again but this time I drove my car backwards and the model does much, much worse in this weird situation. It often doesn't do what I input at all and keeps straightening itself out. And on kick-off you always go for it, even if you don't.

It feels like playing on a very slow computer. Except that sometimes it just randomly decides you pressed the flip button. Really impressive.

With Microsoft "Minecraft", sure. But not that actual Minecraft game. Microsoft is an exception, a bad one, and they added this after they bought the popular game. It is not in any way intrinsic to the Minecraft game experience.

Video game companies still remember when they owned the arcade machines and players were required to constantly insert money into the machines to keep playing. They've been chasing that high ever since.

The key to owning modern multiplayer online games is to have private servers run by human persons on their own owned computers. But except for TF2 no one has been able to (or cared enough) allow private servers alongside the much much more important microtransactions. This is what is killing ownership.

The same as every other fascist control measure. Voted down. Voted down. Voted down. Then forced through through some obscure mechanism bypassing the will of the people and becoming law forever.

Or nowhere you know at all if you're a non-technical user who was on a local account Win 11 setup who was tricked by microsoft dark pattern pop-ups getting you to go to "online accounts" which automatically and silently encrypts your drives in the background and then tells you to go to to some shady domain called aka.ms (with another computer, since yours is now locked on a bluescreen and unusable). Basically a typical ransomware message. In truth in this case it's #1 (uploaded to Microsoft) but the non-technical user doesn't know that. Even I thought aka.ms screen was ransomware when my parent called me saying their computer had a "virus".

Suing them is not justice. Justice is them going to prison after being charged with and judged guilty of the crime.

As time goes on the opportunities for human persons to interact directly with each other, without some corporation mediating it, become fewer and fewer. Sometimes it's not even possible to buy food without having a third party corporation promise to pay some days in the future; there are places that literally don't take your order unless you have a credit card. This is how they get around the "cash must be accepted for all debts" law.

Online it is happening too. No human persons will be allowed to open accounts or even communicat with other human people unless a corporate entity does it for them. This mass surveillence is just a smaller part of the greater attack on human autonomy. Only corporate persons have rights these days.

AI's PR problem comes mostly from the fact that people's only experiences with AI are through corporate uses of it which almost universally make whatever situation worse and way more frustrating. If one's only experience with anything is only through corporations of course you'll find it distasteful because profit motives will make anything nasty.

It could never be against the police officer themselves due to qualified immunity. They are free to break the law however they wish. And that completely lack of accountability creates the risk inherent in every (US) police interaction.

Poor guy. He just wanted to spread some joy and now he's risking his life repeatedly. One of these police stops it's not going to work out. There are just too many US police eager to use physical violence for no reason.

Yes, running the windows version of Rocket League might be possible. But that's not what I bought.

"Lore" is appropriate. Epic games is a very unethical company that steals from people. Myself in paticular. I bought Rocket League the game for linux from Psyonix. Epic bought Psyonix and immediately removed the game clients for linux and mac os. I can no longer play. They stole from me and many others. It'd be one thing if they just shut down the game entirely, but stealing it from only some people while keeping it going for others is worse than just killing games.

Good thing the businesses and central government no longer require US consumers to function. They can just keep circular trading within themselves. No need to get approval or use by human persons.

I am happy to see that Iroh says they'll support the 1.0 protocol for the entire life of the project even if they make a new version. If they can stay true to this it'll be a useful alternative domain system. But using QUIC means it's CA TLS only. As we've seen with the US government pressure on Lets Encrypt recently this CA TLS requirement allows the US (or other nation's) feds to shut down your 'key' no matter where you are. If they allowed self signed or even plain text this would not be a serious issue. But QUIC libs generally can't do this or at best offer a 'scary' build flag for self-signed that is never enabled on any dev's machine during compiling for distribution.

I used to. I do much less now that email is no longer available for whois results from domains because of GDPR. It really killed communication on the internet. The switch to non-protocol based corporate communication services was the other half of killing it.

Ruffle is not complete or comprehensive. In my test of a dozen swf ruffle could successfully display about half. Compare to the actual flash plugin Shockwave Flash 11.2 r202 (11.2.202.643) in my retro machine browser which displayed them all perfectly.

Very much so.

And it's even more scary that MS uses dark patterns to trick older non-technical users into enabling MS online accounts. When the bitlocker activation automatically happens during tricking the user into going from a local account to online account it is without the user's consent or real participation. They don't print out a copy of the key or move it to a usb drive becuase they aren't aware their drives are being encrypted. And afterwards they can't set up recovery keys because the computer itself only shows the blue aka.ms screen. It's effectively dead until they follow the demands.

This is not theoretical, it actually happened to my mother on the local account Win 11 computer I set up for her sewing applications. I had to drive across town in order to figure it out since the weird URL I'd never heard of (aka.ms) and demand for pasting private info sounded so much like ransomware. And in fact, it was effectively ransomware, it was just demanding online activity rather than money.

It is good to known many of these toxic organic pesticides are banned in the USA. I do wonder about the large fraction of the produce in US grocer's stores that comes from other countries though.
