Some context is key here. Sundar Pichai’s statement about AI writing 25% of code was made during Google’s Q3 2024 earnings call. Framing it this way undoubtedly benefits Google in the market, showcasing its strong position in AI.

It’s also worth noting that he said 25% of code, not 25% of engineers. If Google indeed has an AI that can handle complex, impactful software development independently—beyond just boilerplate code—that would be impressive. But from what we see in current tools like GitHub Copilot, AI isn’t on the verge of replacing software engineers any time soon.

AI coding tools are powerful assistants, but they still rely heavily on human expertise to guide and integrate their contributions. So, while AI may take on some repetitive coding tasks, the essential creativity and problem-solving of software engineering remain human-led.

Pretty cool that you took your time out to write some very useful tips so thanks a lot. It is my first video so definitely a very rogue in that aspect haha.

I’ll take it on board for the next video! Thanks
