I assume you never really interacted with the credit card world? E.g. most banks in Germany will give you a credit card that automatically deducts the outstanding debt at the end of the month, you can't really collect debt over time.

In addition I can deposit money on my credit card, so effectively I never have to be in debt if I don't want to. I just have to charge it up which is done in like 3 seconds in the banking app. It can even be automated.

Lastly credit cards with bonus programs definitely exist in Europe. Cashback variations are the most common ones, but all kinds of programs exist. E.g. Eurowings has one https://www.eurowings.com/de/ihre-vorteile/kreditkarten/uebe...

And they are framing the completely different in that case.

> I understand Apple's position on this one

Well then explain me this: There are absolutely no restriction on MacOS where I can give Claude free access to everything. If you are a Mac and iPhone user that essentially gives it access to the exact same data. Why is the data only protect worthy when accessed on the phone directly?

Which court testimony are you talking about? A quick google search suggests that Europe is responsible for roughly 25% of their revenue.

Edit: 26% of their net sales comes from Europe for Q1: https://www.apple.com/newsroom/pdfs/fy2026-q1/FY26_Q1_Consol...

If you use npm 11, you can simplify your workflow by setting min-release-age to 5. https://docs.npmjs.com/cli/v11/using-npm/config#min-release-...

If companies decide to self-host, wouldn't that drive the demand and therefore prices up? Most companies currently do not have the needed infrastructure.

Those multipliers will only apply if you are currently on an annual subscription (and only until your renewal comes up or you cancel). So I assume they simply want to make it as unattractive as possible to get most people to cancel it and move to the token based system.

It is an apples for apples comparison since those new multipliers only count if you are on an annual plan in which case the premium request system stays in place until you either cancel and get a refund or until your renewal comes up. https://docs.github.com/en/copilot/concepts/billing/usage-ba...

If you are not on an annual plan, multipliers will be gone completely. You can see the rates that apply instead here: https://docs.github.com/en/copilot/reference/copilot-billing...

There is a common way to go back (swipe from the left edge of the screen). Some apps just don't integrate well and ignore the platform patterns.

Renders equally weird for me on Firefox on Windows 11. Firefox on MacOS looks good though.

Edit: Seems like mix-blend-mode: plus-lighter is bugged in Firefox on Windows https://jsfiddle.net/bjg24hk9/

Probably hasn't been thought through, but if it prevents automatic updates from being rolled out to users in the USA, then that's probably good enough for them.

But you can run your own kernel on Macs, no? Isn‘t driver support the issue?

Doesn't Raycast (and all the other popular alternatives) build on top of the Spotlight system?

> I needed to setup alarms for pills every 12 hours.

In case you didn’t know, there is a medication reminder built into Apple Health that might work better than an alarm.

Especially not if that browser currently ignores the biggest markets (Windows and mobile).

It's not a restriction of the computer. It's a restriction of the API they provide. You can simply use another solution and don't have that restriction.

A non-Apple solution (without these restrictions) could also be implemented on MacOS. I don't see why this makes using Linux computers more compelling. WKWebView is simply a convenient solution I guess but it could have also be implemented through CEF for example.

As I see it, if I was using a Linux computer I wouldn't have access to a terminal with such a feature at all.

Can't you effectively check that through the background activity time in the battery usage overview?
