in the form of a highly cinematic video.

It looks "highly cinematic".

I have seen both stars and satellites from suburbs and some urban areas. They are not very remote. There is a lot to see if you look. I do not like the light pollution but as it stands it is not the end of star gazing.

I am wondering the same thing. I was reading a paper yesterday,

High-yield, green and scalable methods for producing MOF-303 for water harvesting from desert air

https://yaghi.berkeley.edu/pdfPublications/22ScaleUp.pdf

I might (one day) try to make some. I wonder a little about the useful life span and what sort of downside there would be to making / using this.

An interesting related discussion:

Will We Ever Find Alien Civilizations? https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48860916

I listened to the podcast version (and was awake for much of it). There was talk of self-replication probes and if there is intelligent life out there where are the probes swarming all over the place.

In addition to the probes out to colonize the galaxy, many of these problems are likely (it seams) to spell trouble for any space economy. It would be interesting to solve some of the problems (and see real world [solar system] use) of the technologies / techniques.

Is there somewhere I can see the accuracy of forecasts? I have for years been wanting to be able to see how accurate my local (and not so local) forecasts are. Sometimes I think about compiling the data myself but it always seems to be an overwhelming task.. Also, I am not really sure how even to look at it. Has anything like this been done?

do you have thoughts on what that looks like?

There is so much to be done and it is not going to be solved by any one thing. That in mind, something like an independent third party patient advocates / advisors would be great. It is hard to be an informed patient these days, Navigating insurance and paperwork is tough and getting second opinions is sometimes had.

It is not in the article and I have no data to quote but I would think this would be a good "think of the children" moment.

Well, at least majority gas-powered, as 1064 of its 1250 total horsepower comes from the V-8, with the balance coming from the front electric motor that enables it to leap off the line quicker than the gas-only ZR1.

It still needed a little electric help.

People prefer carrots to sticks.

I sometimes think those in the environmental movement have made a mistake with their messaging. It is too often "we need to suffer to save the planet". It could also be things like:

"Why do you want to pay more to drive a giant expensive gas guzzling vehicle to work so that you can pay for a giant expensive gas guzzling vehicle to go to work in".

"Why do you want to pay for extra electricity when conservation and efficiency will help save money for other things"

"Single use items are thing you pay for time and time again. Durable maintainable items you pay for once."

"Throwing things in the garbage is like paying to store things forever (landfills are not free)"
It is true that there are, at times, good reason to do things that are not at the extreme of conservationism and environmentalism. If the messaging was a little more carrot than stick we might see more progress.

I have been using a straight razor for about 30 years. It is nice to not have to buy anything for it (but a little bit of a pain to sharpen).
