Among the Yanomami (per Napoleon Chagnon), killing outsiders was not “murder,” it raised status. Men who killed had more wives. Violence was cyclical and regulated, not collapse. Humans are not universally anti-killing, mainly in-group.

That pressure kept population density low and groups mobile. Less surplus, less accumulation, weaker incentives for technological scaling. Over ~10,000+ years this maintained a relatively stable human–environment equilibrium.

Do you want to elaborate on why Athena Crisis is better than Wargroove in your opinion?

So the next move is to train chat GPT like language model out of the data from whatsapp, facebook and instagram.

Gee, what could go wrong?

Too bad in a big project the recompile and asset reload times get annoying in Unity, even with assembly definitions. In one project I used a runtime lua interpreter on top of C# to speed up game scripting.

Your experience is subjective and unique to you and so is for everyone else. That's why there's no point to use some objective metric to rate entertainment anyways. I don't generally like modern movies or TV as well, and I feel some what entitled to that opinion.

Assassins have existed way longer than bitcoin. It's emergent feature of free trade. I definately think the upsides of freetrade out weigh the downsides. On the contrary, if we lived in a society where all flow of money goes through some govement entity, we would be in reality some button presses away from Orwell style dystopia.

Here in Finland there was interesting example where someone was selling hitman services over tor-network. They caught him because he left a plastic bag in the crime scene, the plastic bag had a sticker, from that they could tell that it had been used to weight a banana and could also pin down the place and a time. They then used the surveillance footage in store to identify the person.

I worked in a game company that used discord. I much prefer it to slack.

Shotcut is unfortunately no different. Having used shotcut for hundreds of hours ctrl+s becomes your best friend.

Nowadays, they do have option to use incremental garbage collector which in theory alleviates frame spikes.

As a programmer I've approached these problems with programming productivity software for myself. 1) A hierarchical task list that has unlimited depth for tasks and undo history. I write every little task down and their subtask and their subtask... This way when I do get distracted (and I do a lot), one look at it and I know snap back to the context I was in. 2) Micro day/routine planner that schedules my day and reminds me to do things with text to speak while I work

Children cannot be expected to make responsible decisions. Kids might not understand properly why they are being taught basic math, but it'll most certainly be helpful to them in the future, anyway. It's the same as a parent, you're not going to allow children to drink alcohol or smoke either.

Whats a better UI framework? Been a unity game dev since I learned to program properly so I don't even know any better.

There were some really brutal tactics in this game. If someone with a higher level was ighting with a tough opponent, you could wait for them to be low hp, kill them and take their stuff. Apparently the friendlist system in that game worked in a manner where you didn't have to accept the friend invitation to see if someone was online and their location in the world. This was useful for stalking. When you saw people you had beef with come online at the same time, you knew you were in trouble. Especially with a system where if you died, you could lose levels. My friend told me that he had sometime angered a Swedish clan they started to stalk him. His solution was to make fake account that pretended to be a member of this Swedish clan, and he then used it to bait an even bigger clan to attack this Swedish clan by pissing them off.

Thats funny. I've done some scrapers with unity and C#, since my experience comes from game dev. I thought I must have been doing it dumb ass way but nice there are to know there are some upsides to it as well.

havent shipped a side project, but i do keep track of my project so i can say with some certainty what things have helped me to accomplish the most. they are the following 1) the no zero days mantra - 15 minutes a day of progress is fine it helps to keep the momentum going and when you got that free sunday you just find yourself wroking more. 2) i do keep also a lot of trail of notes of ideas and concerns on how to further the project. if I have to keep a break and come back to it after some time it helps to remind my self where i was.

Starcraft 2 is definately that. Getting good at it pushes you to actively manage your attention span so you can multitask most effectively while making reads and predictions on the opponent.
