I became aware of the evil and set reminders in order to spend one hour every Saturday to google-detox. I think I will be completely degoogled in a couple of weeks.
Hey thank you! I really appreciate you taking the time to checking it out! Yes, I am working to improve the UI, I spent most of the time working on the back end, on the actual scripts. There lies my strength, I guess. I am not a very good graphics or web designer, and I plan to work with a UI person in the future. Stay tuned, I will make this app work also for English speaking cities!
> This is like rearranging someone's kitchen for them "because it's more efficient"
This randomly reminded me of the time I let my friend use my laptop, only to find out the next morning that he had changed all the colors and styles of my windows xp with a gimmicky "mac skin". So infuriating.
I´m having a blast changing all the parameters. Really uncanney valley feelings. Some women come up very attractive, looking like Jessica Alba. How can I react to a face of a person that don't even exist?
On a second thought, I don´t mean that the controls behave randomly. I understand they affect related parts of the system. If you increase "baldness" on a woman's face, it will obviously increase the "male" factor and the "gray hair" factor. I understand that this faces are being generated from a continuous space. Fascinating.
When I realized I can't go back to normal UI, I immediatly downloaded Thunderbird and went back to e-mail clients. I won't bother with the new gmail. Fonts look horrible, it is slower and in the end there is less information density.
Do you remember that project that mapped where words are "stored" in the brain? I don't have it right now, but it was something like that. They used a neural approach to map the word vectors in the brain.
