Sounds like the movie "Her" with extra steps.

The body needs sugar, but you don't need to consume sugar to get it. You produce your own glucose.

There's 44g of sugar in a can of coke. The recommended daily amount of sugar is 24g. Although I take issue that there would be any amount of sugar that should be recommended since it's entirely unnecessary to consume.

Or maybe they understand them perfectly and have come across enough obtuse code using reduce to not want it as part of the language.

After using esbuild and experiencing fast builds, I'll never go back to tools written in javascript/typescript again.

There's healthy competition between local bakeries. If one refuses you, you can just go to another. Try doing that with the App Store. P.S. I don't believe companies should be able to discriminate based on sexual preference, I just dislike this comparison.

Nearly half of our genome is thought to have had a viral origin. It's a bit of a simplification to say that we "don't need to experience" any illness. We would not be what we are today without it.

Population density of Norway is about 38 people per square mile. Population density of LA is 7009 people per square mile.

I don't think it's a fair comparison just because absolute population is similar.

Healthcare is consistently ranked as a top 2 priority amongst Americans polled and has over 70% support. It even have majority support amongst republican voters. This is a false equivalency.

I barely hear a word out of go fanboys outside of their own respective bubbles. Rust fanboys however...

> Women sell better in female stuff

Cute women doing traditionally "male things" sells like hot cakes. Not so much the other way around.

One thing that strikes me about my dog's awareness is he picks up on landmarks really easily. Once we get within a mile of the vet his demeanor changes and he becomes sulky. On the contrary, once we're in a mile or so from my mother's house he perks up and gets extremely excited. It'd be interesting to read research on how good a dog's spacial awareness is and how they manage to find themselves home while being miles away.

Very good, let's petition to ban signal. In fact, let's ban encryption altogether as such a technology can be used to coordinate terrorist attacks.

Julia v1 was released in 2018. It's currently about as popular as elixir. Is the author really complaining that it hasn't over taken as the lingua franca in two years? Python is over 20 years old and it's only hit it's stride in popularity over the last 5.

I'd generally recommend avoiding tap water altogether in the U.S. and making sure you're not drinking fluoridated water. It's been show to decrease a child's IQ by up to 4 points when used by pregnant moms[1].

I wonder why the conversation is all about avoiding nitrates and nitrites in bacon and never about avoiding celery, beets, radishes, chard, lettuce, spinach, etc. which contain far higher amounts.

They didn't tell you how much of the position they closed out on. They can say "they closed their position" even if they only closed out on 1% of it.

Perhaps a super intelligent civilization would not put up with the limitations of our physical reality and instead upload their collective consciousness into an artificial one. This has the added benefit in that they are no longer dependent on natural resource extraction to expand their population at least beyond the energy requirements to sustain their giant consciousness server. I'm sure I can't be the only one to have thought of this but I'm not well read on the subject. Why go through pain and suffering and various zero sum games when you could open up the possibilities to the infinite?

Just curious but do you have a source for the claim that a surprising number of women are not having sex at a late age?

The sad part of this comment is that it seems almost inevitable given how much our society has driven the commodification of human relationships. Most of my friends always "hedged" their relationships, that is, having multiple partners waiting in the wings in case their old relationship falls off, or in case something "better" comes along. In this case better is a purely emotionally detached lists of pros and cons, an exchange of what can be gained. I can see women in their early 30s downloading an app and then clicking through a form of what their ideal sperm phenotypes will be. Blue eyes, over 6 feet, college educated etc. Then it gives you a catalogue of men with professional headshots and brief product descriptions listing all their greatest traits for you to select from.

You can silence alerts, your phone could be dead. The point of the alarm is to alarm you at the exact moment something is happening.
